well, that's not how marketing works any more. You need a really big buzz before you even have anything to sell. Look...

But on a serious note, what's wrong with sharing some informations. They don't have to spill all the beans but this makes me feel like they are not even serious about it. And then people tend to turn around and get something else.

They're not counting big on this phone. It's that easy.

PS Aqua-fish is nothing like yeezy sneakers nor it's anything like iphone in terms of marketing.

the key point here is that it seems, at least tome, that they don't count on it at all. And that is the problem here. Why not promote something for free if you can? We all are tracked, served with commercials/adds/banners for products we don't even care about but for something we are really interested in we can't find any info on official web. Samsung is not what it is today because of their superb products but because they invested billions in marketing. The same goes for Apple or yeeze. Non of those products are worth camping in front of the stores for days/weeks but still people does that.

The way I see it...
  • Intex signed a contract with Jolla a year or more ago
  • There may have been some penalty clause in case one party pulls out
  • Jolla got itself in trouble and did not handle it well, proving itself an untrustworthy business partner
  • Intex has lost confidence in Jolla and the future of Sailfish including updates and support
  • Intex has concluded that Sailfish is too big a risk
  • Intex figured out that actually producing the Sailfish phone but then not promoting it was the cheapest way to minimize the damage

The few who know about it will find it even without a big promotion. On the other hand, running a big promotion and risking millions of unsuspecting users potentially falling for it and buying a device with a beta OS who would then curse Intex for eternity is a risk not worth taking.

Agree on all that. But it's not about big promotion here. I don't expect superbowl commercial. It is about lack of any info on official product site after it has been promoted or at least showed in public and mentioned on more than one portal/blog that has no relation to manufacturer.

And I'm also sure that someone told them that there are people who are familiar with, like sailfish and expect a new phone with it. So why not use that? Why they don't promote their own product on their own web?
ohh I see right.

What I have heard it won't have native Jolla maps with HERE. HERE maps are not licensed for Intex, so they can't use them. Workaround would be installing android HERE maps.

That's a shame. Trying to avoid Android apps when similar native one is available, even with less function. Maybe similar to install "unlicenced" google play we can maybe just pull the application from a licenced device and install it? (Assume you have a licenced device...)
