the resolution is the reason why I didn't get the 7". If this is anything close to the same price as the 7" then I think I know what to ask santa for this year

I wonder if it will be capable of 1024X768 resolution. 800X600 is just to big to be of any use. They also hint to some new or better features.

The 9" has a 1024 x 600 resolution screen. Here are some pics: http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/04/a...living-pixels/

Is there a technical reason way it's 1024 x 600 and not 1024 x 768?

because it, like many new machines including the 7" eeeeeeepc, is widescreen. 4x3 is gradually disappearing

Hm.

What about internal storage options?
built-in bluetooth (so you don't have to do it via dongle)?
pc-card or express-card slot?

(dunno if the original eee had video out or not, but video out?)

Its just SD and 3 full USB ports. Its really not limiting. People shove bluetooth modules and extra flash storage inside the bottom casing all the time now lol

The only lame part of the EEE is that the processor is clocked down to 630mhz... would be preferable to have it factory clocked at 900mhz. Makes a huge difference. There hasn't been any elegant overclocking solutions IMO.

From what I recall, shoving things into the bottom of the casing is an after-market hardware mod. Especially if you have a model that doesn't have the pci-express card slot (I seem to recall that that's only on certain models?). I'm not interested in having to go to those extremes to be able to do things that, IMO, should be included in the base unit, at least as vendor installed internal modules (ie. USB bluetooth doesn't cut it).

If it had an express card slot (with drivers for EVDO and UMTS cards), bluetooth, and an internal storage option that can take 1.8" HDD and SDD options, then I'd be interested.
