Hi there,
I have set up the repository with the details as follows:

web address:http://eko.one.pl/maemo
distribution:mistral
components:user

and when it tries to update the package list I get a failed catalogues message and the following error:

http://eko.one.pl/maemo/dists/mistra...el/packages.gz 302 Found

When I set the distribution to bora it works fine, but I understand kismet is on mistral, which is something that I need. Any help? Im sorry if this has been covered already.

that repo has been redesigned and no longer includes mistral. not sure if there is a way to attach the .deb file here.

that is cause your distribution should be 'bora'

try this install link after you remove the bad repo

or change your info to this

web address:http://eko.one.pl/maemo
distribution:bora
components:user

Thanks for the replies,

I tried with distribution set to bora and it does work ok, would I be right in assuming that kismet has been removed from this repository? if so, do you know where I can get it? Ive seen loads of information about kismet on the nokias, but all the posted repositories are the above with the mistral distribution.

All I can find about kismet is this link but the info is really outdated. It does have a deb you can try to install and see if it works.

Edit:
It looks like ths source is here if you can get it working in 2008.

I spoke with dragorn for a few minutes the other day in IRC, and he was in the process of trying to get kismet to be a little more stable on the N800 before releasing a new package .... the instability is not due to kismet, per se, but rather due to power management and/or wlancond (possibly) interfering with the smooth running of the app.

latest status i'm aware of is that: 2 times out of 5, wlan0 will simply stop, without notifying the OS or the apps (including kismet) that it has ceased. You can exit kismet, and your wireless is still showing 'functional/connected', but it's not. At that point, sometimes a stop|start on wlan0 will get things rolling; sometimes a shutdown/startup is required. ...and, if you do neither of those, your n800's fully charged battery will be fully depleted within 2 hours.

...so, as anxious as I am to get kismet on my n800, I'll gladly wait while the guys get this little glitch ironed out.

thanks again, I downloaded that deb file but I had an error message thrown back saying the package architecture (arm) does not match the system (armel) so im guessing its too old!

Ill have a look around.

cheers

cheers for the info briand, I have been seeing the same problem posted on different forums, obviously quite a large problem, especially if you have to restart the whole system. Well, if you get any info on a stable release, please let me know

which, interestingly, is behaviour I see on my n800 OS2008, in normal WLAN use, when the signal is poor (only), even without kismet.
