The AI studies your habits to help make the device more energy efficient and save battery. It's also used to improve photography. It is used to study your voice characteristics so that you can whisper in a noisy crowd and still make phone call. All this and more can be done to create a data base on the person. They are working with google advance AI.

Btw, I like the finger print scanner on the opposite side of screen. Then you can open the screen one handed. But they missed the boat on that one. They put it back on the front. On the Mate 9 the fps is on the back. Second, once the screen is on the sensor for the fps doesn't do anything. They should give it another function like opening or closing an app.

So everyone can enjoy looking at dimensional film of all the future extinct species...

If it works...
and software and progs and apps and content is made for it...
It will be a novelty ...soon to disappear or become just another "function"

But yeah...unless you are a "creator" in the true sense of dimensional art...
It will be useless ...
so it will be something to "watch" and "look" at...and pivot and spin around....and little else for the population...
And THAT means it's shelf life will be short in the attention span of the populace...

the discipline of how to look at an apple ...straight on...imagine the curvature to the sides...imagine light source(s) giving shadow...and can imagine the contents ..where they are suspended inside...and "see" in their minds...the other side of the apple ...without turning the apple around..
It is an artistic discipline...learned ...with years of work at it...
It is also a mindset ..that the world is more than 2-d ...and most people can't accept that...in their minds...it is too much for them..
The prime interest of society is not about expanding one's view of the world...but simplifying it ...narrowing it down...
So no.. I don't buy it.

it will be a neat gimmick for a while....being able to look at media that has been adapted for it...
(depending on how much there ends up being...I mean ...really...a single studio is doing this...and expectation that the entire system of media and how it is presented ...will be overhauled ...because of 1 single studio...in today's tech climate ...is almost preposterous... Every film company...every image company ...every gaming company....every advertising firm....is either going to ignore it until they can't anymore...or try to buy out the tech. and bury it...or ridiculously...invest in it...or even more unlikely ..overhaul part or some of their manufacturing or company divisions to accommodate...at financial risk I may add...)

If it does take off...yes ...scientific and artistic and medical usage is where it will be "at"...

For everyone else...
an expensive gimmick..to either disappear ..or become commonplace...

Sorry, but I'm a maker and I found the expansion of art and creation into AR/MR/VR exciting.

A lot more exciting and adventurous than the same old stuff being peddled with a slightly better processor than the last iteration on a device that locks me into an ecosystem that sees me only as a number and not as a member.

Simply stated; there's fun still out there. The churn of the stuff that goes on around these parts can be tedious. Take a step back, see what else exists. Have fun dude.

It's out there waiting. And if you don't find it; make it happen.
