Honestly, 'normal' modern browsing is just a no go on N900 whatever the OS (or web browser) is. Just a question of RAM unfortunately.
However, everything else seems possible or is already working.

I still trust that netsurf will do the trick even with N900 when they get there. Written in assembly. Next publish hopefully soon with new features ready.

Some of them could be experienced already if would build from dev sourcecode.

Would be nice to try MenuetOs or KolibriOs on N900 cause both are written in assembly. The need for ram is minimal. So next would be to get Leste written with assembly

I tested with Pinephone Keyboard, I only write this:
sudo apt-get install netsurf-gtk
to install and come write this, only problem is that cursor does not shown. Very small RAM usage, so I am pretty sure it run N900 too.
Have to use cursor keys to go page down.

I've used it with cursor.

At the moment, almost all N900 images are broken OOTB for various reasons (updates issues, wrong meta packages, swap issues).

However it is just affecting fresh installations.

So at the moment, for you guys who wants to try leste without issues, i recommand you to burn last available daedalus image and modify fstab before the first boot (i.e from PC or from sdcard mounted in Fremantle):

In /etc/fstab:

#comment emmc swap:
#/dev/mmcblk1p3 none swap sw

#and add sdcard swap:
/swap none swap sw

That's it. The first boot is very slow as usual, so don't click anywhere for at least 3 min until the welcome message appears.
You need to extand rootfs and reboot
After second boot, it needs at least 2 min to load/swap some stuff even if you see Hildon-Desktop. Then things are quite fast but you can use 500Mhz as minimum freq, modify transitions a bit and use boost mode if needed (see wiki).

The only real issue we have at the moment with N900 and daedalus is Qt5 apps launch time.
There is actually a workaround so, just ask here on TMO or IRC.

(edit: ringtones break incoming calls ATM. As a workaround silent mode with or without vibrator fixes the issue)

Note: if the UI is very slow or laggy, the culprit is the SDcard for sure, as now, things are really smooth on N900 with a good SDcard
I am ready to try this on my N900. I only need a working phone, sms and emacs.

Does this currently work - latest version 20250421-daedalus - and does advice above still apply?

Yes, you still have to modify fstab ATM:

In /etc/fstab:

#comment emmc swap:
#/dev/mmcblk1p3 none swap sw 0 0

#and add sdcard swap:
/swap none swap sw 0 0

Other issues are still there but some workarounds work (waiting for proper fixes).

i.e almost everything works fine now on my daedalus N900 but things are a bit hacky :P

Thanks! Not too worried about the 'hacky' part as long as calls/sms are reliable and emacs works I'm fine.

The rest is bonus - now I think of it.. Telegram and Bluetooth keyboard connection would be very nice

Bluetooth keyboard is not possible ATM on N900 as bluetooth driver is kind of broken.

Telegram messaging works fine through Pidgin and even from Conversations.

However, Telegram-desktop seems the best way ATM since messaging, audio messages, video (laggy but working, file sharing, animated emoticons and calls (buggy like with many other devices) work on N900. It is just a bit long to launch (around a minute), then it works smoothly and can be kept in background.
