I remember reading somewhere that the N810 can play videos which are located on another PC, for example one which uses Windows Media Player to set itself up as a "media server". What program do I need to install to be able to play videos/movies or even tunes from another PC like this?

If you are referring to a windows home server. Then you have the option to run a UPNP server, just turn on the option in the console.
If not the you just need to get a UPNP server for your OS and share your stuff.

Hmm... Assuming that the Media Server is already set up and using uPnP, it should show up in the "File Utility". You can just browse to the shares and when you click on songs, they should play (assuming the format is supported on the Nokia) in the built-in media player.

Thanks guys I'll give that a try. My Windows media server is already set up, so I was just wondering how I actually connect to it from the N810.

hi, on n810 the program you need is called 'media streamer' - to connect to uPnP server - works more effectively than the file browser - I use it to stream music/videos from a netwotked lacie upnp hard drive server. hope this helps.

Thanks I'll check that out. I was able to connect to my media server using the standard file manager, but I kept getting "file corrupted" error whenever I tried to play any avi/divx file (i tried about 5-6 different vids and all the same problem). Hopefully Media Streamer will work a little better.
