I tried both claws and modest.. I'm going to stick with modest. It works so much more seamlessly with the UI and I don't have to remember to start it up

Colin, any chance to import OPML feed list into the RSSyl plugin? I have lots of feeds subscribed on my Google Reader account and do not want to import them manually, so I exported them into an OPML file (which, besides, has an .xml extension.. ) but can't find any way to open/import it...

I use mailpicker.com to have access to all my mail.

A late addition to an older thread, but this seemed like the most relevant thread to ask: is there a way to make an addin email client behave more like the default? My wife likes Claws better, but if she forgets and goes to the "regular" menus rather than finding Claws in the "extras", she ends up in the default client again. Also, if you close the default client, it still checks mail, whereas Claws doesn't.

Can either of those behaviors be changed (i.e. put the Claws shortcut in the main menus in place of default email, and have Claws always running)? Could I do those with Modest (never tried it)? blackoper's post seemed to imply that Modest might do the second.

Modest does the second.

And you can install Personal Menu and have Modest in an easy access button.

If the app is a true maemo app and responds to the proper URI handlers it should be possible to swap it out with the default. That said there is currently no way to actually do that safely. There was talk that the next rev of os2008 "Diablo" would address this issue and be better suited to swapping out the defaults.

I tried both and Claws was the only one I was able to get working until recently. Modest wouldn't connect for some odd reason. But as of this morning, I'm having the same problem with claws. The app opens but when I attempt to refresh/connect, it just crashes.

I like web mail such as Yahoo. I don't completely understand why everyone doesn't use web mail, except that a few companies won't accept a web mail address.

That and the fact that it doesn't allow you to read and respond to email while offline.

also, if using an external keyboard and typing directly into the browser, i can get what seems like several minutes ahead of the input box. with a 'standard' email client i find this issue non-existant. i guess a work around is to use the 'notes' app then copy and paste into the browser...dunna like that option much.
