Having similar problems to above, and i've also paid for the additional separate wayfinder software... which i would not recommend anyone doing until the two companies release some fixes, apologies, refunds. Otherwise I'm pleased with the N810.

It has been sitting for hours and still no lock. I also took it outside and there is no sign of life on the satellite.

Has anyone else had this problem in the past day or so? I hope my unit isn't broken, that would be a chapper.
That is exactly my situations too. When the N810 was fresh several months back, it locks in 5 - 10 min and I complaint and complaint. Now the darn thing sometimes takes 30 min to lock! and at one point, it did not lock for over an hour. And yes, I was driving. I finally got it to lock when I did a cold reboot.

Shutdown tablet, remove battery, wait 1-2 minutes, plug it battery, then try again, in outside open space.

Ok, my 2 cents...
Don't buy the n810 if you expect to use it as you would a dedicated GPS unit. The software is marginally adequate. I used mine along side a TomTom for about an hour (aftera 15 min lock time). The location mark would jump all over the place as I was driving, accuracy of streets was not as good as TomTom and it would do a weird zooming in and out on the map while drving.

That been said, I love everything else about the 810...as it was purchaced as portable computing device, not a GPS.

That is exactly the situation. OMG, at least one person shared my frustration.

Same for me...I have TomTom on my N82 as well as having a GO 920 and the GPS in my Prius...all run circles around Nokia's GPS software and about 1/10th the cost (other than the Prius)

i've played around with the default gps app for a bit and i found that i can pick up one sat indoors and and 3-4 outside my place. The satellite icon shows search mode always though and an attempt to show my location returns 'location information not available'.
What i would like to know is would my current location be available if i was subscribed to the service?
I also have the free maemo maps app installed. this doesn't show how many sats are availible though. The sat icon flickers a lot and has settings i have no clue about. maybe i will have better luck with that in the future.
I might look into something like a BT device that utilises my 810 as the software platform in the near future.
As for the zoom thing you guys are experiencing, it sounds like a software thing and would be worth checking the updates for fixes if the hardware is good for you.

I had the same problem a few days ago. Then I rebooted, and GPS worked again.

Sort of off subject, I just tried the car mount today for the first time and was wondering if anyone else felt like (or had seen) it could scratch the finish on the 810? I just seems a little rough for the baby smooth finish...soooo smooth.
