I've read a couple of posts on this forum but none of them describe the problem I'm having. My N800 is running OS 2008 and my PPC 6700 (Apache) is running Windows Mobile 6.1.

I have Bluetooth on and discoverable on both devices.



The HTC PPC 6700 sees my N800.



The N800 sees the 6700 as a PDA, but not as a phone.





I'm using Internet Sharing with Bluetooth Pan on the 6700, and have Bluetooth PAN installed on the N800.



Anyone know or guess what the problem is? Thank you for the assistance.

PAN != DUN

The N810 only supports DUN out of the box. I believe I remember postings about a PAN (driver?), but I seem to also recall that it was CPU hungry, ergo not too usable ... but search anyway ... I could be wrong.

Oh, heck, I'll be gracious ... googled "N810 DUN PAN" and (strangely enough) this was the first hit!

Start there ... looks to be almost identical, so there may be a solution.

Are you sure that "PC Connection" drop-down doesn't have a "DUN" entry?

[Edit] OK, I got curious ... seems a recent project (maemo-pan) is out there to enable the "hidden" PAN capabilities in the N810 ...

This is how to do it with a Treo 650, a palm: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...light=treo+650. The trick is one has to set the Treo 650 in DUN mode first and then the iTT will start to catch on.

Your is a PPC. I heard PPC does NOT have DUN, M$ yanked it out from winmobile. That may be old info though. Try to go to your PPC 's forum, they may have a way to reinsert DUN back into your PPC.

Thanks for the assistance guys. The only two options I have in Internet Sharing on the PPC 6700 are Bluetooth PAN and USB.

That maemo-pan package is what I'm trying to use on my N800.

I just installed the bluetooth pan application for my N810. Turned on internet sharing and paired it with my Cingular 8525 with no issues. It's running WM6

DUN or PAN, I still can't get the phone recognized by my N800.

I tried installing (with additional registry hacks) the WM6_DUN.zip file that is supposed to restore DUN to WM 5 & 6.

Of course, I'm running WM 6.1 and Microsoft may have addressed that "DUN security hole".

The built in "Phone" feature/thing of the N800 will only work with a DUN device and as your PPC doesn't support DUN (this is why I liked my Os2003 with widcomm hacked bluetooth stack :P), I don't really see the point in making it force to show up (I'm not sure how it would be done anyway except for changing the gconf entries)

But from what I know how maemo-pan works, it finds the device configured as a phone and makes the Bluetooth-Pan connection entry, which it seems to have done, what happens if you try connecting through that? (I get a bubble saying Bluetooth Pan is connecting to my phone which fails because my phones only do DUN :P)

The connection manager says "Connected to Bluetooth-PAN", then it says "Looking for phone", then it says "Cannot find phone", then the browser says "Server not found".

For now:
This is my W810 phone configuration and the W810 shows up as a phone to the N800 and I can connect to the internet fine:
(This is gconf, the graphical editor is gconf-editor from extras)

If you go into gconf and edit your phone entry, you may be able to get it to show up as phone. I've included all my entries for completeness but you may just be able to get away with changing your class from the pda to the phone one (the numbers in my gconf dump above)

I have to stress, this will not make the built in phone thing work with your phone (unless it uses DUN) but it should make it show up as a phone.

I'll look at maemo-pan later.

After installing the DUN hack on my WM phone AND repairing, my N800 finally recognized it as a phone. So, yes, it works (WM6 though). Try repairing.
