Not the application, which seems OK, but the company.

I placed an order for 36 months full functionality of the Map application last Monday. They didn't send me an acknowledgement email.

They took the money, of course. Oh yes.

So, I logged into the website and checked my order history. Nothing listed.

On Tuesday, I logged a call with the helpdesk via the website form. No response.

On Friday, I wrote to
dan.haneklint@wayfinder.com, head of customer support. No response.

I also logged the issue again with the website. This time I got an automated response, but no human response.

Today I phoned, first thing in the morning. After 30 minutes waiting, someone picks up. She takes the details of the problem and promises to phone back.

Nothing.

Now, its 5.55pm in Finland. 55 minutes ago I called again. It only took the same girl 45 minutes to answer this time. Clearly they only have one person on the phones. Apparently, although she could see my order on her system, sales could not see it on theirs.

Sales apparently had written to tell her that, but hadn't condecended to offer any solution to the problem. She then hadn't let me know that. I had to phone back at the end of the working day to find that out.

And there it sits. They have my money, I don't have the licence key I paid for, the web form for support doesn't work, and they only have one person on the support line. She, by the way, can only email sales. She doesn't even have a phone number for them.

Unbelievable.

Mike.

p.s. Having been away from the forums for a while, I apologise that my return post is a rant. Just wanted to pass on a warning in case anyone wasn't already aware how bad these guys are.

p.p.s. The only reason I don't just use Maemo Mapper is the autorouting. I live in SW France now. Road signage here is generally very good, EXCEPT when there's a deviation due to roadworks. There's a spate of roundbout building going on (5 new major roundabouts between my house and Toulouse Airport). So I need whichever map application I use to be able to deal with rerouting on the fly.

This doesn't help at all, but FYI Wayfinder isn't part of Nokia, it's an independent company based in Sweden.

Personally I don't understand why Nokia uses Wayfinder at all, they've already got their own mapping application called Nokia Maps, which has just had a rather good upgrade released (Maps 2.0).

Contest the charge with your credit card company (I assume that's how you paid Wayfinder) and don't pay 'em.
