Hi, so I'm a complete newbie when it comes to anything n810 and linux. But I've been trying for the past few hours to get Pidgin to install (sad isn't it :P). I've made sure all the catalogs are correctly entered, but I am still getting this message:

Unable to install Pidgin Internet Messenger.
Some application packages required for the installation are missing.

libdus-1-2 (>= 0.61)
flash-and-reboot(= 3)
initfs-flasher(= 0.95.16-200823maemo2)
kernel-diablo-flasher (= 2.6.21-200823maemo3)
hildon-libs0 (>= 0.12.24-3)
libdbus-1-2 (>= 0.61)
libxau0
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and like I said up at the top, other then some persistent googling I am completely knowledgeless.

Thanks!

Hi could you give a list of the repositories that you have installed and where you are trying to install pidgin from.

could you also type into terminal

Code:
cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list

and post the results

Goto www.gronmayer.it/it

Check off (there is a little checkbox in the upper right corner of each repository listing) each repository EXCEPT the ones you've already got installed. It'll update your repository list locally and you should have no problems... and look - - more apps!

He has Bora, Gragale, Mistral, Chinook, and Diablo listed in his repositories. Something is Very Wrong here...

I assumed they were added when reading out of date instructions for other apps that specifically referred to whatever the latest OS at the time was.

Yes, your explanation is likely, but it has the potention to fsck up his NIT. I mean, adding repositories is something to be careful with, but adding repositories of older releases (even different OS version) is dangerous. Pidgin for Chinook works on Diablo, but running pre-Chinook binaries (pre OS2008) on Chinook/Diablo (OS2008) is unwise.
