I think older version of A-GPS works on Chinook. Try e.g. <= 0.9.x

I'm waiting for all the issues with diablo to be fixed first before committing (esp. the battery drain issue).

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

EDIT: Looks like a no go, the 0.9.x deb requires the diablo libglib which has many dependencies such that you'd pretty much need to install diablo because otherwise it'd get hairy trying to get all those dependencies and whatnot installed and working under chinook. Oh well, I'll wait until I install diablo some day. I wish there was a way to get a fix (at all) with the standard GPS applet around here (I tried standing outside, in plain view of the sky with no results after 5 minutes).

OMG! I had totally given up on the GPS in my N810 because of the crappy fix times. Didn't use it at all. Actually I was quite disappointed with the whole gadget. Just because I was bored today I updated the firmware and wondered to this forum after months of absence and noticed this thread. I installed the aGPS beta and tested it on my way home. I got a fix in 16 seconds!!!!! It used to take more than six minutes to get a fix earlier. I repeated the test after driving home and it took 18 seconds. I'm starting to use this thing again!

I have uninstalled agps, rebooted, reinstalled, opened agps, tapped my position, and all the other needed stuff, but I'm still not getting the preconfigured satellites like in the this screenshot. Anyone else having this problem? Is my hardware faulty? Do i need to reflash or something. Thanks

You need a net connection for agps to work, make sure you close the agps-ui before you try to open an app which starts the gps itself.

The change log mentioned two things.

* Added info dialog
* Added Maemo-Display-Name

Info is a new menu item otherwise the ap seems to be the same. I ran it when the update showed up but don't recall exactly what is in the Ifo display. If you were hoping for some magic improvement in time to fix -- this isn't it. With the Internet available my time to fix has been on average 2 minutes but occasionaly can take up to 10 min.
