A friend of mine uses an external battery to recharge his iPhone. It is called "Just Mobile Gum PRO Mobile Power Pack 440", has an USB output 5V / 1000 mA and a capacity of 4.400 mAh. I think that combined with a USB charging cable (Nokia CA-100 or compatible from EBay) this can be an interesting alternative to using multiple batteries for the NIT, as it can also be used for other devices. My friend has told me that this Power Pack has a weight of 150 gr, which would be not much for carrying it around.

Wait a second. I didn't think the BP-5L was designed to work in the tablets. If it is, or it's compatible, what's the advantage of it?
It works on the n800. I'm pretty sure it won't work on the n810. When I bought my battery from ebay I chose one that at least looks exactly like the one I already have.
It would be great if I actually get it in the mail now instead of a pink faceplate to a phone I don't have.

I've had nothing but dissapointment from a battery & charger combo I ordered off of ebay (details in this post). Buyer beware.

That sounds very interesting. I assume that this is the one you're talking about? I found it for sale here in Canada at Expansys for only $44 CDN. A lot less than the Mugen I was thinking of getting & it could be used for anything else (cel phone, bluetooth headset, etc). I just may order one for a trip I'm taking next month. Thanks for that.

Yep, that's the beastie in question.

You might also check Canadian Tire. According to other posters, Canadian Tire used to sell an older version of this device, the MP1500, under the Noma brand.

Also, just as a minor warning, the battery cover locking mechanism on my 1550 is a bit lazy, so I keep a rubber band wrapped around the whole device to keep it together. I found the 1550 on sale cheap enough that I'm not disappointed, but I thought others should know what they might be getting.

I picked up one of the Black & Decker CPI 100B (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...ctiveda8222-20) for $9 at a BD outlet while vacationing in Williamsburg, VA a week ago. It's bulky, but has both AC and USB out, and last 8-9 hours.

A little too bulky for my needs , but a neat option for backpacking, etc. TX

Solio. Probably need to replace my battery cause I can't watch video for 2 hours. I can kill the battery on a single short YouTube video.

One of the things I learned early on with the n810 was that, if you're going to use it for videos, have some kind of alternative power source nearby and start with a full battery, because if you don't, it's going to suck the soul out of your battery. 0.0

With my n800 it also happens with streaming audio. Wifi+audio seems to suck a lot of battery.

Streaming anything drains the battery more quickly as the tablet is unable to put the WiFi chip down for quick naps as it does during normal (i.e. web browsing) usage.
