At this time I do not think you will find a WiFi Broadband Router that will work with the XOHM. I have been looking and others have also over at EVDOforums, a very good dosurce for info on the different WiFi Broadband Routers. Cradlepoint, Linksys, Kyocera and Netgear do not have support at this time. Now with this industry nothing is carved in stone, but to date I am fairly sure I am accurate. The demand is out there and the public is ready, it is just a matter of getting the Firmware Upgrade written.

There are too many technical differences to mention them all. A GPRS cellular system has paging channels, pilot signal channels, and extremely robust handoff triggers, etc.

The most basic difference between GPRS and WiMax from a user perspective is that the handoffs in a GPRS system work seamlessly so that there is no interruption to a phone call during a handoff (and even if there is, the connection will automatically recover). WiMax does not have the same robustness so a key test will be whether it will be possible to reliably maintain a VoIP call on a Wimax system when traveling by train or car from one end of the city to the other. If there is even a split second interruption, the VoIP call will be dropped, it will not automatically reconnect, and you will have to redial.

So whats the difference? Robustness?

This was a really interesting article about a demonstration XOHM was running during their debut in Baltimore.

Here is some recent news from Nokia on the future of WiMAX on the Internet Tablets and most probably on their mobile phones, as well. I am living in Portland, Oregon (new Clear WiMAX service) and was planning a purchase of the N810 WiMAX Edition, but now I am reconsidering. This may be a death warrant for WiMAX.

Hey All!

I am thinking of gifting N810 to my younger brother. I would definitely like to feel the device before I purchase it. Nokia does not have a flagship store anywhere near Alexandria, VA. I have searched a lot to see where I can see the product, but all in vain. Can anyone suggest me where I can get a see a working model? I would be very happy to attend to your next meet (hopefully it is soon as I'll be visiting my home country in about a month) or maybe I can meet one of you guys to check it out!

Thanks for your time!
