There is no reason to backup the device lock password.. so it would be crazy if you find it in there.

Anyway, the original way that Qwerty has given was a little bit more complicated.

Thanks for all the help. I'm in good shape. The reflash did not require me to enter the lock code. I have a feeling that the code requirement during reflash that some people have referred to may be the wlan code which is required to gain access to the Nokia restricted downloads site.

I have to admit I let my machine boot windows so that I could use the wizard provided by Nokia for reflashing which is more refined than their Linux facility. I guessed that this would give me more chance of not requiring the lock code.

I did not see the link provided by Saturn before doing this, which looks promising. I will be careful about using the backup (which I bypassed in the Wizard) from the advice given by GeraldKo and gazza_d.

If you enable the device lock from the control panel, you will be asked for a password even after a reflash.

In my opinion, it is a bug that it doesn't ask for the same if it was locked from the menu. I'm sure you are happy for this bug
