As I said this goes far beyond the curtain matching the drapes.

i am not going to reply on that topic coz that is off topic here.
I kinda feel it is on topic, if people want to have post about ripping off software companys for there hard work then maybe they need there own forum.

Do you think Nokia would give away the tablet then why should a company give away there software? I've got nothing wrong with open source and free software but if its not free then its there choice and its um kinda illegal to crack it. At least in the US some a lot of other countries. So like I said if people want those kinda of posts then they should start there own forum. The only reason I never had a real problem with how to crack wayfinder is no one has ever been able to get it to work as far as I know of.

I know that's how you feel, but personally I don't see anything really tangible I could put my finger on, apart from the very visible change of looks (and the very tangible discomfort ensuing).

As another huge fan of pb I can see what you are looking for and don't see too much of a problem with it. I don't necessarily think that talk.maemo.org should be the place users to come to find out how to do illegal things on maemo devices. Every platform has many different forums where a community gathers, the same people on discussion.apple.com are hardly the same users on codez4mac.

talk.maemo will still be the premier site for Tablet users, the internet is great because you can share information very easily. If pb starts another forum I will probably register there to see what's what.

A big difference is that maemo.org is community run unlike discussions.apple and codes4mac and even ITT which was Reggies own site. So if you want to change how things are here, you have a better chance of succeeding especially if you are a well respected forum member as yourself pb.

Yes, I'm quoting myself.

Interestingly, an article called, "The Wisdom of Community," by Derek Powazek, was just published on A List Apart today:

i must have missed the part where the new forum became home of all kinds of illegal activity.... how come we assume this now?

apart from this: it's just the internet, fcs! we needn't discuss if pb should or should not come up with a forum of his own. he can do so without asking. and even if somebody here now convinced him not to go on with it, another person could open a new forum tomorrow.

sure, there's fragmentation and sure, we can wonder if these new sites will attract enough users... but then: wouln't it be great to have 4.176.892 active, successful Maemo-related sites? I'm sure I'd love it.

I don't know.

If there is not enough interest in it, then it won't move forward. I am not planning on moving forward until we get more users, and then we will discuss what happens next.

I am not sure how much squeakier I can be
squeak squeak freaking squeak!

In fairness, I asked the question. Should a separate forum be made. The thing is, people come here, read a couple posts, try to slap on Android and blamo, they are not booting, they need to reflash, as soon as they figure out what reflash was. So having another forum for software/hacks that could possibly interfere with deb's that were built properly, unlike my giant tarballs, could have some benefit. They say NOKIAAAA you told me to come here, and I got screwed. Instead of f-ing tablethacker, I'll go back to Maemo and figure out how to reflash.
