Correct me if I'm wrong. What I think I have seen in the multiple threads on this subject has been along the lines of :
"if you don't like it fix it yourself"
"to difficult to maintain multiple themes"
"give us a picture of what you want"
"no promises to implement any other themes"
even what I've read in the minimalist theme thread is that andrewblack is working on making a dark minimalist theme, but is unsure if it will be used even if he creates it (unless I've missed recent news).
It also appears that there are a couple different places where themes can be tested/modified? maemo.org SVN, a forum sandbox?
At this stage, I certainly wouldn't want to put a lot of effort into a theme if there is no guarantee it will be used.
I haven't seen anywhere (and I may be wrong) where anyone (with the power) has said something like:
"make a theme and/or get some community buy in for it and we *will* add it as an option."
Plus there seems to be multiple routes: maemo.org svn, sandbox, picture, css editing, etc.
Would some authority like to make a decision as to what process should be followed and confirm that a theme once created would be used?
Again, I apologize if I missed any of this somewhere in the multiple threads.

If you put time into making a theme -- and agree to maintain it over vBulletin upgrades, etc. -- then why wouldn't it be accepted/used?

He is not making a dark theme. He is changing the dark minimalist theme to match maemo, you know, cause that look is in high demand

Yes he is, and no he is not.
He is upgrading the Minimalist theme heavily to add many features the current one is lacking, and make it an even better alternative to the full theme for tablets. Then he will offer *both* a politically correct maemo.org-like theme and a dark one.
Andrew, who is not part of Nokia or the maemo community council, has been working with Reggie on this. He's been very open throughout the design process, and he's doing it now, and he's doing it *on* talk.maemo.org...
penguinbait: The Minimalist theme has always been designed for a super fast loading version of the site. Its main purpose is for fast browsing over data connection. It is not to provde a dark color scheme the only reason it has a dark color scheme to begin with is because that is what itT has at the time.

Please pull fingers out of ears, and stop saying "LA LA LA LA LA LA" over and over again.

Perhaps something changed? I was told he was making it to match maemo.org.

... I personally am a supporter of multiple themes my big problem is that some people want Reggie to design theme all. I have offered to do a Dark Varient of Minimalist but I don't know if it will be added as an option. ...
