If you put time into making a theme -- and agree to maintain it over vBulletin upgrades, etc. -- then why wouldn't it be accepted/used?

"no promises to implement any other themes"

even what I've read in the minimalist theme thread is that andrewblack is working on making a dark minimalist theme, but is unsure if it will be used even if he creates it (unless I've missed recent news).

It also appears that there are a couple different places where themes can be tested/modified? maemo.org SVN, a forum sandbox?

At this stage, I certainly wouldn't want to put a lot of effort into a theme if there is no guarantee it will be used.

I haven't seen anywhere (and I may be wrong) where anyone (with the power) has said something like:
"make a theme and/or get some community buy in for it and we *will* add it as an option."
Plus there seems to be multiple routes: maemo.org svn, sandbox, picture, css editing, etc.

Would some authority like to make a decision as to what process should be followed and confirm that a theme once created would be used?

Again, I apologize if I missed any of this somewhere in the multiple threads.
He is not making a dark theme. He is changing the dark minimalist theme to match maemo, you know, cause that look is in high demand

See Tim, perhaps your misreading the poll question. 66 people want maemo.org create to maintain this, there are not 66 people who want to make and maintain this themeselves.

Get it??

Please pull fingers out of ears, and stop saying "LA LA LA LA LA LA" over and over again.

Please?

Yes he is, and no he is not.

He is upgrading the Minimalist theme heavily to add many features the current one is lacking, and make it an even better alternative to the full theme for tablets. Then he will offer *both* a politically correct maemo.org-like theme and a dark one.

Andrew, who is not part of Nokia or the maemo community council, has been working with Reggie on this. He's been very open throughout the design process, and he's doing it now, and he's doing it *on* talk.maemo.org...

maemo.org is a web site and a community, so presumably, these 66 people want someone in the community to step forward to create and maintain a theme. Andrew has volunteered to create a dark variant of his Minimalist theme once the basic version is complete, and I seem to recall someone else (Bundyo? Benson?) expressing willingness to try building a dark theme. Beyond that, wanting the community to do something doesn't mean someone will step forward to do it. Were than not the case, we'd have long had that super great, does everything, meets every need, syncs with every device/application/service ever PIM for Maemo.

Perhaps something changed? I was told he was making it to match maemo.org.

Who isn't listening? maemo.org is "us." We are responsible for making the changes.

Yes, I'm repeating what sjgadsby said. And, I'll repeat it again if need be.

He's been saying it from the start:

Maybe I confused some people. To my knowledge the new minimalist theme will match the current default color scheme

What I was referring to was:

That andrewblack is *also* working on a dark variant. But as of yesterday afternoon was unsure if it will be an option.

@timsamoff - here we have someone investing a lot of time in a theme (thank you andrewblack) and working closely with Reggie while doing so. Yet, despite working closely with Reggie, he is unsure if the dark variant will be used.

Why should anyone else believe a theme they create would ever become an option if andrewblack is unsure?

Why is he unsure? Have you asked him? I'd like to know too.
