vncviewer[1457]: GLIB ERROR ** default - file maemo-vnc-viewer.c: line 46 (create_data): assertion failed: (result->osso)

Aborted

Any ideas?
Are you running VNC viewer on the actual device or in scratchbox? I've seen this error occur from scratchbox, but that's because the environment isn't setup yet--you would need to use run-standalone.sh vncviewer.sh to start VNC viewer properly from scratchbox (or source run-standalone.sh first).

If this problem is occurring on the actual device, then it is probably due to the environment not being setup correctly. I'm not sure how to help here, because I don't have an N800 (yet). Also, perhaps you installed a 770-specific version of osso-xterm--make sure to get one for the N800, if there is such a version. Perhaps someone with an N800 that has successfully gotten this working through xterm can help out here.

Hi Arron,

thanks for that I am now up and running. For the record I have a '770 and I was using the wrong command line instruction, hence my problems. Funny thing was, before I used X Term for starting VNC viewer, I could not get it to ask for my password. Now whenever it connects it asks, via X Term or just clicking on the icon, weird. Anyway, it solved my problems so i'm a happy man.

Thanks for all your help,

Chunkywizard

Hi Chunkywizard,

Just to confirm, you ran it once with "run-standalone.sh vncviewer.sh", and then it worked, and after doing so, it worked every time even when launched via the menu or from xterm without run-standalone.sh?

This is very odd, and interestingly, one of the N800 users reported something similar--it wouldn't work, and then all of a sudden, it started working all the time after he launched it from xterm.

Could you describe exactly what happened before when you launched VNC viewer from the menu (before things were working)?

I'm glad that it is now working, but I'd like to understand why it wasn't working as well :-)

Thanks,
Aaron

Hi all,
I installed vnc on my N800 and it works... well, rather of.
The problem is that my desk comp works in Xinerama mode with two displays also of different resolution.
The pointer is misunderstated by that; i solved with other viewer with some sort of -xinerama and -xwarppointer options. Any clue about that?

For some reason, version 0.3 stopped working for me, but upgrading to 0.6 fixed my problem. Thanks for keeping this updated.

Hello

First of all, great product!

One thing I keep stumbling on though, the contents of the clipboard.

Once something get's pasted into the virtual keyboard's clipboard while using vnc, it tends to stay there, no matter if I replace it with some different text, forcing me to highlight it all and erase it before typing in the text I need.

for example, I fill out one field, move to another, click on it to activate the keyboard, whatever was in the clipboard appears again and I have to delete it. Then type the stuff for the field in question.

also, it's not the last thing I pasted either, it seems the first thing I add via cut/paste is what gets stuck in some cache somewhere in either the virtual keyboard's clipboard or vnc's keyboard clipboard.

any ideas on how to clear this cache/clipboard?

tia
