For what its worth, I just installed Gizmo to try and install something succesfully on my new second hand 770! It worked fine,i made a call through my cable modem to my landline. There was about a 2 second delay but the sound was perfect, what i dont get is where is the payment coming from and from who because i did not register any payment details,cc debitc or the likes!
Is it just a free trial then i'll need to submit credit cards to continue using it!

You get free .25 cent credit for callout when you sign up for a gizmo account.

You don't ever have to give them money if you don't want to. Their free calling to other Gizmo users' landlines is a clever way to give some incentive to spread the usage of Gizmo. Much more sustainable way than the (now ended) free calling deal that Skype was offering. You only pay if you want to call the landlines/mobiles of people who don't have Gizmo. Even then the rate is not high. I have been using the service since it came out and have been pretty happy with it. They are pretty responsive in their forums. Their service is also open and standards compliant enough to be able to use it with other SIP clients too if you don't like theirs. I connect to my account with Ekiga often ... I don't know if it passes through a video stream though since I don't have a webcam.

The only real advantage to using Gizmo (or Skype) is if you have a limited number of minutes on your cell plan; and 2: International calls. Any word on the development of Skype and the 800?
