Hi Guys,

Brett Butterfield, CEO of Pixelpipe has asked me to test out Pixelpipe on the N900, but seeing as I don't have one just yet, I was wondering if any of you who do would mind testing it for me, and ltting me know how it works out in this thread please?

First check to see if we're in the SW catalog on the phone first however if we're not listed yet you can download the plug-in to the phone from http://tr.im/nokia5. To install from a file you'll need to be in "Matrix" mode and have taken the red pill http://wiki.maemo.org/Red_Pill_mode. Now you can install the plug-in in the app manager as a file.

You can then configure Pixelpipe from Settings/Sharing accounts and start publishing photos and videos directly form the N900's native camera and gallery applications. Let me know if you have any questions.

You're listed in "Blue Pill" mode, with the default catalogues. So no need to switch.

Signing up on the N900 was a good experience with a form that didn't require much data entry and was pretty well designed for the tablets.

But... when I click "use existing account", I get a browser page that says "do I wish to allow it, etc." and I click the Grant Access button. But I keep getting a banner saying "Account validation failed" no matter how many times I keep trying to get it to use my existing account. And bear in mind that I am signed in, via the N900's browser, and I have granted permission three times already...

Maybe someone else will have better luck

I've got it to work, now. Let's see about actually using it...

Annnnd it works. Just took a picture of a wall (I know; I love being imaginative) using the camera, shared it via the Pixelpipe service and it shows up on my Pixelpipe account and on "my" FTP server (albeit with no extension).

Yes.
I'd like to share screenshots, but as this is a plugin for Nokia's software, I wouldn't be allowed to do so. But if you check your logs for the website, you should see an IP originating from London with a N900 User Agent.

Ok Thanks. Jan Ole Suhr, the sole dev for Gravity has an N900 en route so he can start porting Gravity across to Maemo, Im good friends with Jan, and have been Beta testing Gravity since last year. I will ask him too to test this.

Did you use Network connection to upload, 3G ? or WiFi?

I used WiFi. Not on a contract so 3G charges are a little, shall we say, exorbitant...

Why are you not allowed to show screenshots?

Hi,

I've been using PixelPipe on my N900. It is working great. I do wish there was an on-device option for choosing "pipes," though. Yes, these can be configured online. But, one time I forgot to go turn a couple off and I had an image go to several places (when I just wanted it to go to one).

Thanks!
Tim

You can use the @tags you have defined in the web. For example, if you want send only to Twitpic, write the title and append @twitpic to it (or the right @tag). It will only send to Twitpic then. I was testing it this morning, and worked like a charm.

I thought the plugin would fetch list of pipes automatically and present them as tags to me but I had to create @tags myself.
