Ah, so you want subcategories and sorting by them... I see, true.

Andre,

I've made a number of suggestions to various developers over the years not to try to invent things but to bluntly replicate Outlook and ONLY THEN attempt to improve.
Noone listens...
We're not talking about the majority here - majority couldn't care more about this. But at the same time the amount of people interested is not something to sneeze at from the sales point of view.
Anyway, i digress, i can provide a detailed list of what is in Outlook that is not in Evolution but it's easy enough to do yourself. In fact, www.go-evolution.org has a number of comments opposing Evolution to Outlook
.
Bottom line is that no other app does it better than Outlook today and I am deeply hurt by it.
Bottom line #2 is that it's not difficult for developers to replicate the functionality(see my first attached image of "customize view" window), but noone feels the need to do it.

Hence, to achieve the level of functionality i want i HAVE TO use Windows Outlook and Windows Mobile Pocket Informant.

At the same time I am actively looking for alternatives and Maemo or Moblin are starting to look interesting.

That is only if the calendar gets included.
Looks like things are gradually happening:

A port of Evolution in Anjal form (or any other form) would justify switching from WinMo to Maemo.

A port of Korganizer/Kmail would also justify ditching WinMo but i'd much rather Evolution(far better calendar sorting/filtering).
Hi, for in future you will see more K* and Q* applications (KDE-based (which uses Qt) and Qt-based) because of switch from GTK to Qt occuring in Maemo 5 -> Maemo 6. So there is a reason to prefer either. For future, Korganizer/Kmail is more interesting.

Also, I only referred to Anjal because of its e-mail capability. Not anything else. So e.g. calendar is different discussion, and has to be compared with Nokia's calendar included with Maemo 5 or the other alternatives for Nokia's stock calendar.

For me, I really love the way the stock S60 client is integrated in the S60 OS. I know the application isn't perfect and lacks many features but the integration and navigation is top notch. Much better than Nokia Messaging.

That performance of Anjal (for netbooks, Intel world) is less than performance of Modest (for tablets/smartphones/MID, ARM world) doesn't surprise me. But Anjal should be a bit more lightweight and more optimized for smaller interface which makes it a better starting point for Maemo port than Evolution.

1. How do i only display tasks with category names starting with "Home:" in Evolution???
(Concerning Evolution; not commenting on Anjal)

Evolution 2.26.1 Memos/Tasks/Calendar works similar as Apple iCal.

It supports different labels. Ie. it supports you label your memos/tasks/calendar and then allows you to enable or disable showing certain labels (and many other specific settings such as giving the labels their own color).

It also has an advanced search feature which allows you to search (and hence 'filter').

I'll use Anjal this weekend in a 800x480 display to compare it with Evolution.

Had a look at Evo 2.26.1 - much better than 2.24(last version i tried).
There are still a lot of major no-nos:
- No journal(memo is notes)
- No timeline view - big no-no
- No text autoformatting(see my first attached image)
- No way to cutomize toolbar (xml file editing is no good) - big no-no
- Filtering is not part of a single custom view - huge no-no.
- Filtering by categories doesn't let you specify text - only set category names - big no-no
- Outlook migration requires 3rd party tools - COME ON
.... lot's of others

No way I could make a move yet.
With Intel putting Evo devs on their payroll things might get patched up by 2.40 i hope. That is all wishful thinking on my side, of course.
