Still says the release date is Nov 30, but I noticed they reduced the limit per customer from 20 to 5.
Considering what happened on the 14th, I don't think Newegg is bothering to mess around with shipping shennigans. They'll just leave that date as is until Nokia tells them something else.

If you navigate the Best Buy site to the N900 or search for 'N900' and click on the device, it doesn't show up as available no matter what form of input you use.

Unless you use the link posted in this thread, which does show as available at every store in the country that I've seen.

Or unless they did it like Apple where you just plug it into any Windows PC or OSX to upgrade it. You could make a program for Linux too though most people can do it themselves (given the directions).

I rather have that than what they're doing now.
So what are they doing now? Diablo (which is Maemo 4) has SSU (Seamless System Updates) where the system is updated over the air, so you don't even need a computer "to put new firmware on the device".

And: The final firmware Quim was talking about is NOW available for download (so the 300 plus others already having a pre production device can update theirs).

This firmware already is on the final production devices, so there is no need to reflash at the moment.

Because Nokia and MPD have exclusivity for sometime before other retailers can sell the device.

Wierdo beat me to the punch, but I found exactly the same thing.

My point is that if the reason why the original shipping was delayed is because of firmware then they should have just released the device as is and have the consumers upgrade the firmware.

I think it was more of a manufacturing problem than a wanting to put a somewhat finished firmware on there. Otherwise why lose out on 2-3 weeks of manufacturing?

I called my local Best Buy which showed as available on the special link. They do not have the N900 in stock.

For me it doesn't show every store in the country, all the stores in DC, show unavailable, and if I go to the actual item on the site, yes it does show as being pre-order only. But if you add to cart, then pick 'Pick Up In-Store' then it shows as being available.

It's not a special link, nor did I say that the store actually had it. If you read everything that I said, the guy from Best Buy in Long Beach stated their weekly truck arrived this morning and to call back in four hours and he'd have a definitive answer on whether or not they have it.

On another note, here's a chat I just had with Newegg.

15:21:59 System says, A Customer Service Representative will be with you in a moment.
15:22:29 System says, Skylar has joined this session!
15:22:29 System says, Connected with Skylar
15:22:29 System says, Hello my name is Skylar. How may I help you today?
15:22:35 Jayson Buchanan says, About the Nokia N900
15:22:46 Jayson Buchanan says, is the Nov 30th release date a definitive thing?
15:23:04 Jayson Buchanan says, First you guys had it being released Nov 16th then pushed back to Nov 30th
15:23:37 Jayson Buchanan says, I'm asking because my order with Amazon I placed with them on Sept 19th they are now saying I won't get till Jan15th of next year. So if you guys it first, I will definitely cancel with them and re-order with you guys
15:24:16 Skylar says, The ETA that is listed on the site is the most current information that we have on the item. But that date is not set in stone its only a estimated time of arrival. But we are expecting them to come in today.
15:24:37 Jayson Buchanan says, If you're expecting them to come in today
15:24:41 Skylar says, What you can do is place the pre order for the item and if its not shipped out on the release date you can always void the pre order.
15:24:48 Jayson Buchanan says, if i call tomorrow can you guys give me a definitive answer if you have them or not

I work for Best Buy and I checked on this when I went to work today and its not available anywhere in my area so most likely its not available anywhere. I will check tomorrow if they have a release or availability date.
