Mass Storage mode simply mounts the internal (and SD Card?) as drives on your PC. This stops the N900 being able to access the storage at the same time, because the PC is accessing it directly.

PC Suite mode allows you to sync, tether, etc. I believe you may also be able to copy files over using ActiveSync (cannot confirm but the specs did claim ActiveSync support) but its slower than mass storage mode, but would allow the N900 to still access the storage at the same time.

The PC Suite Mode allows you to sync data with the Nokia PC Suite installed on Windows.

You would also use the PC Suite Mode for advanced stuff like USB Networking.

Does it? I see both disappearing on the N900 (file manager) as soon as i plug in the cable, but on my PC, i only see one USB mass storage device, which is the internal "MyDocuments" folder.
