Guys, I have searched a bit but some of these threads are getting quite long and hard to pin down to an inidvidual post....

anyways sorry if this has been covered.

'Those or you' who now have your n900, I wondered if you could report on the wifi speeds that it can achieve.

I'm coming from a Nokia 6121, non wifi, little non-smart but pretty good phone.

my only expereince with wifi is through my laptop where i get about 8.5 mbps on a good day (as shown on speedtest.net)

What can I expect from my pre-ordered n900 as a guide or in your expereince?

cheers.

Well, My N900 is connected to an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11n in 802.11g mode, which is in turn connected to a 20Mbps cable connection.

from PC: 18141 Kbps DL / 488 Kbps UL
from N900: 4989 Kbps DL / 471 Kbps UL

Of course this was using the flash-based speed test at http://speakeasy.net/speedtest

EDIT:

using http://speedtest.net/ :

from PC:16403 Kbps DL / 460 Kbps
from N900: 6210 Kbps DL / 470 Kbps

I'm in the US. I just did a speedtest.net on our work wifi and was somewhat dissapointed. Though looking here, it seems to be the norm.
Wired Desktop: 31.46D/5.83U
Laptop: 24.95D/5.58U
N900: 5.59D/4.59U

I tried the different power settings in the wifi menus, but the made no difference.

Anyone else able to get better throughput?

Same here... Somewhat disappointing WiFi performance...

Wireless Laptop 34.19D/2.69U
N900: 6.68D/.68U
FW: 1.2009.42-11.002

I have seen faster performance on 3G from jkontherun.com
