I misunderstood the app to begin with. I expected it would make the call itself. I need to use my SIP account to do that, which I already do. Does the SMS function work? How does it alert you? The message layout is confusing.

I should probably add platform info to the logs...
EDIT 1: I do actually agree though, I keep forgetting whether christexaport is using an n8x0 or an n900. Again, having it in the logs would help a lot for me at least.

So far most issues people have had are actually agnostic of Maemo 4.1 or Maemo 5. I release the same version of software for both platforms at the same time. The main difference is the Maemo 5 version of Dialcentral has to go through the Extras Testing process. When releasing packages I am usually explicit on what the state is for each platform.
I should probably add platform info to the logs...

Maybe a "Diablo: Dialcentral" and a "Fremantle: Dialcentral" discussion thread?
Platform info in the logs is another best practice.
I'm going to *assume* significant codebase sharing between platforms. If yes, then would it do more harm or good to physically separate the discussions by platform? Or would it be more helpful to maintain one thread and beg people to proactively identify their OS/device?

I'd recommend that you first take some time to read up on Google Voice on its homepage as it will explain things that you ask bout here - like callback number; using SIP, SMS, etc.
You say the message layout is 'confusing'. Could you elaborate how its' confusing as just saying it is isn't exactly useful.
SMS works but not short code SMS. So you can't use the 5 letter/number SMS codes (though Google Calendar and Weather work..). SMS sent through GV will use the GV #. On the n800 it alerted you by flashing the blue led indicator. Now on the n900 I believe it ties into the notification system (so whatever LED that uses).

Since I've been using Google Voice for a long time (8 months, nearly since the preview began), I'm well versed in how it works.
I thought this was a Google Voice app that didn't require it be using SIP or another vehicle. That's all. I really want a true Google Voice app that makes my device work like part of the normal phone app like on some Android devices. The SIP implementation using Gizmo5 is cool for the phone part, but I want to also be able to send SMS and receive as well, preferably using the default SMS/Conversation app. Dialcentral does neither of these. Its a decent app, just not what I expected.
I wasn't sure what short code SMS is. Had to Google it. I NEVER send messages to short numbers. My calling plan when I had a SIM didn't even allow it, and for good reason. The LED alert is nice, but why not the yellow alert with audio like all other apps? The LED isn't always obvious, and hasn't worked for me yet. I actually have already missed some messages, and haven't seen an alert of any kind. I think it loses connection or something.
Is it impossible to implement GV SMS into Conversation like a typical messaging service? Does Nokia have no plans to implement it? I know they said they're all about service accessibility now.
