maybe there is a hidden alarm turning it back on. some people reported that if you add an alarm and then delete it then these power ons stopped.

Same here.
The unit was off, and about 5 minutes into charging , it turned on.

This morning the battery was totally dead, must have turned on last night.

"totally dead" ? how many hours does your tablet usually last? I leave mine on all day long and still have plenty of juice left at the end of the day.

My wifi connection is set to disconnect after 10 minutes of idle. I know this helped my battery life.

When I shut it off last night, the battery status indicator said that I had about 1 hour of use left; so it was low.
Today when I try to charge the N800 turns on at about 5 minutes.
I have set an alarm, then deleted it, taken battery out still turns on during charging.
I'm trying to learn how to use Bugzilla to submit a report.

Just updated my N800 to the newest firmware as of today: RX-34_2007SE_3.2007.10-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin and just after finished the upgrade plugged the N800 to start charging, the device was off and suddenly it turns on itself.

Has done this several times, after switching the N800 off and while charging, about 8 minutes pass by and the device turns on itself again.

What is going on? and how to fix it? Any ideas, hints are welcome, Thanks in advance.

Mine does the same after flashing the new firmware.

The first morning I thought I just forgot it on the previous night. So, the second night I made sure I switched it off and plug it to the main.

The next morning it was waiting for me with all the RSS feeds updated ready to be read..

You shouldn't complain this a great feature!

So I reloaded the newest OS again, but this time did not install any programs except for my "backups".
N800 once again turned on while charging.
Reloaded newest OS again, did not install programs or "backup" this time.

N800 does not start up during charging.

Something in the(my) "backup" file causing the unwanted restart during charging? Not positive but seems so.

Might be worth opening a bug in Bugzilla and, if possible, attaching your backup as a test case - it would greatly help the Nokia developers track down the cause of the restart quite quickly, I'm sure.
