Do you remember if you had some Python application (such as Hermes) running while you attempted to remove the packages as instructed by mikkov?

You have to show the logs, otherwise nobody can help

I decided to restore factory settings, and it works now.

I guess I learned my lesson, don't play about too much with testing and devel

Just guessing now of course, but might have also been a full rootfs partition. "df -h" in the terminal can show this.

Anyway, I uploaded a new pymaemo-optify version (0.2) which should be more error-proof than before. More specifically, it will not break installation even if there are old mounts or files left behind.

To be able to get more testing ASAP, I manually promoted the package to extras-testing through the package interface, even if it is not in user/* section. Hope to not disturb QA too much

Andre Klapper: is it possible to automatically test packages in extras-testing for "disk full" conditions (maybe installing the package in a quota controlled chroot)? I know dpkg has means to recover from such errors during installation, but that depends on a carefully written preinst/prerm/postinst/postrm scripts, which maybe some packages might not do properly.

Hey Guys!

Merry Christmas!

Anywhoo - N900 said there was an update for an app so I updated it (was in extras testing).

The update didn't go down well - installed "reflect" theme but not Witter.

Restarted phone to see if that would let me install update - nada. The reflect theme went funny. It looked like windows 95.

Bookmarks went see through, widgets disappeared. Some icons in app menu also disappeared. When scrolling down the apps, the phone would randomly go black. Contacts seem to have been wiped (and unable to retrieve contacts over BT). Recent calls and messages also wiped.

I reinstalled the firmware, got my contacts back, but unable to install bounce.

Any ideas?

edit: Also unable to install Hermes.

[From the top bar] Settings>Restore Original Settings

Question: How do you completely wipe the phone so it does not remember anything? [Need to install Bounce, it's one of my main demo pieces when showing the N900 :P)
