Hi Guys,

Is there a way to toggle between the keyboard layouts while typing an e-mail for example? I can switch between various language layouts only by completely switching the device language or input language from one to another.
Thanks

Rimini, what are you actually trying to achieve here? The keyboard doesn't physically change so I am guessing you are trying to utilise characters from a langauge that is not the same as your own device's keyboard?

If you can explain what you are trying to achieve as an end result their might be a simple solution

I wonder that too. There are localized keyboards with more than one layout, like this one:

I wouldn't call these different layouts. The keys are just overloaded for the Fn key.
But the onscreen keyboard lets you switch on-the-fly between two layouts that you can freely choose in the settings.

Of course you can switch. You can switch between layouts defined in the /usr/share/X11/xkb/nokia_vndr/rx-51 file:

setxkbmap us
setxkbmap de
setxkbmap cz
setxkbmap cz_qwerty

and so on...

The GNU way, from the terminal...

Nope, that's two layouts up there. Russian and English. It's not a function of the Fn key, because the characters are not blue.

Just like in a normal desktop keyboard.

How can I switch on the fly between English and Russian with an onscreen keyboard?

By default you can toggle layouts on hardware keyboard using Ctrl+Space at the same time.
