Hey guys look the guy who start this thread is an iphone fanboy ( "i" stand for IDIOT) LOL joke. He may probably doesn't know how to use a LINUX lol.. or may be he never ever heard of Linux before. hahah Joke also. The point of linux is to do one task and does it well. UI is just a visual layout. It can change easily if the author wanted to.

The whole point of having a Linux phone is to make use of the commandline level for the high level users and for average users is to learn to be a higher level user. :-) i'm not an advanced user but I like Linux and I worked in the department where our machines are 90% iMAC 24inches. Yet I'm not an Iphoney fan either. I like gadgets but I do look at the spec and the capability of the device. I see the N900 has a great potential and I'm dying of getting one "F***K Iphone in the face"

And to all the rest of you guys-
Jesus, you guys suck.. Could you stop being fanboys for one second? My god, that guy didn't come here to trash the n900, he's allowed to not like it.
The way some of you are behaving is disgusting..
You guys are the trolls here, not him.

EDIT- Seriously, after reading all of the posts I feel ashamed that some of you are in the same community as I.
Grow up.

BTW - if you don't want to take up my offer, fine. But why not take it back to the original point of purchase? It's 7 days old - get all your lolly back.

Oh don't be so naive - 'course he came here to trash it. Would you seriously expect to sell a product after calling it "A dinosaur"? Read the title of his post!
The part where he calls it a "Shitty device" would seem to be trashing it. Seriously though, there's a lot of people still pining for their N900's, and this poster is just trying to rub people up.

Post the Ebay item number - I'd like to see how much you get for it.

Just to put some more sticks on the fire, one of the things that bothers me the most about the iPhone is the fact that the OS is, in my opinion, way behind both Android and Maemo when it comes to information presentation.

When I use my phone, I am basically after two things.

1 - The device must have the neccesary features and software that I need and want.

2 - The device must give me information and make my life easier by presenting it for me, rather than having me having to actively "ask" for it.

I want my phone to tell me what the weather is and I want it to show me RSS-feeds and I want my Facebook updates presented as well. Maemo and Android does this by presenting me this information on a desktop that supports both widgets and shortcuts. The iPhone only gives me an icon grid that made by brain die of boredom after 3 weeks, even with the various iconsets and themes you can install. This means that I actually have to open the weather app to get the weather, I need to open the the RSS app to get the feed and I need to open whatever Facebook app the iPhone has in order to do anything..

With the iPhone, you have to get the information you want, while with Maemo and Android, the information is presented to you in whatever manner you want. A proper desktop is probably one of the most important interface features on a (touch screen) device today. The iPhone has fallen behind on that area and in my opinion, it seriously cripples the user experience because of it.

So I've been exploring the content in the various repositories.
Installed and tried out applications
Read and other places about features, future, etc.

In the end, I can't help but to feel that the N900 and maemo are dinosaurs in many (but not all) areas compared to the iphone.

On my iPhone I download torrents at the command-line level (./gettorrent, etc) , switch between applications using Kilkari or whatever the app is called, I play games like Dungeon Hunter, Alive4Ever, Civilization, etc with graphics and gameplay that the N900 is a million light years behind.

I access the terminal on my iPhone and browse using a file manager.

I connect to my work mail exchange flawlessly and the phone is significantly better than the N900.

I tether it to my laptop and connect the laptop to the internet using it.
I can even set up a MiFi using it.

I also like music and there is an area where the iPhone once again wins.

Seriously the 90% of the things I do off my laptop are vastly superior on the iPhone.

The N900 is nice in that it gives more access to the OS and that the apps are free.
But, most apps looks like something developed 5 years ago and they seem to always be buggy.

I'm not a developer who needs full OS access on my phone and I doubt most people really do.
It's cool to be able to say that you got it...but if you need it to do your stuff then the GUI is seriously flawed.

The N900 is going up on eBay. Proceeds will go to my upcoming skiing trip (blessed by my dad).
It's a shitty device but in really good condition so if you want to make me an offer, and save me from selling it on ebay, send me a direct message. Offers made in this thread will not be considered.

If you're in the Chicago area you can do a local pick-up.
The post seems too convenient. A follow-up would be nice, since respectfully, the post seems contrived. 1,000 pardons if I am wrong and two dozen "Please forgive me"'s.

The only specificity in the post was in relation to the iPhone and not the N900. Does not add up, but anything is possible

Had a little Christmas party last night with a theme of "Christmas around the world." We had 10 guests, 4 of which are iPhone users. We had some shows running on the t.v. which were playing off the N900 via tv out, and afterwards we decided to stream some German Christmas music over the Internet through the FM transmitter into our surround sound system. The iPhone folks hate their phones now. "You mean it's like a portable movie player too?" It speaks for itself.
