Hi,

I was looking for angband -like ports for n900, looks like 'original' angband was ported to n810, but I was wondering if you could easily port Z+Angband, which I find to be best (Z)Angband clone so far for fremantle.

Out of the box, the game compiles and runs on i386 maemo5, but I am a bit hesitant on starting to develop a touchscreen-UI,

Movement is the biggest issue, as you use numpad on PC, so w/o d-pad we have to use the touchscreen.

Since it's going to be touchscreen, it probably makes sense to add a possible on screen keyboard for other keys as well (a'la the n810 angband port).

However, I think an extra numpad area is a bit of a kludge, so I was wondering if it would be trivial/easy/possible to make it so that:

1) Map is always auto-centered (the game supports this already)
2) there would be 'invisible' buttons around the character which would move it to that direction.

I think this would work better than "click on the tile you want to go to", any other ideas?

I think what you are suggesting is an excellent idea. Only thing that comes into mind is that you need to consider if user could do multiple movements by holding the finger longer or do they need to tap repeatedly.

I am really looking forward to this!

Or, tap for single step, swipe for walk?

does not compile for linux. [edit] well, it can, but it is doing evil windows things at runtime.

Check out moving around on this page:

It might be something to possibly consider.

Forgive my silliness, but couldn't you use the traditional roguelike keyset?

h = left
j = down
k = up
l = right
yubn = diagonals

Angband (2.4.2-frogknows) had those set as default, so the rest of the Angband features were mapped to different keys. The first version of ZAngband (heya Scarblac!) also accommodated that keyset, so I suspect later versions do too.
