I remember when i bought N95. it was a baby at that time. not many apps available and lots of bugs. but later N95 grew stronger, bugs were fixed, more useful apps were available and my N95 could stand in the crowd on its own. it would guide me (GPS), push my emails, let me talk using VOIP, and let me browse when ever i need . i was so proud of my N95. Now that I have N900 in my hands, its bit smarter in appearance, lot faster in speed, bigger and touch screen... still it is a baby. it needs further nourishment to become strong, mature and more useful....i have my trust in N900...

sorry, forgot to mention one important thing.. N900 is lot more capable then N95..

Camera on e71 sucked, but made up for it by 'awesome' keyboard and unbeatable battery life and SLIM.

n900 has an awesome browser, camera comparable or better than n95 but.....
- to use it as a daily phone is unweildly. It thick and heavy
- taking it out of pocket to answer a call can easily accidently hit the reject button instead
- keyboard is just barely acceptable. Not even close to e71 keyboard
-still evaluating battery.. not sure what to think right now. Will more tests over the week
- lack of apps is ok for now. Worse case I can write whatever apps I really need myself.

Personally the like-dislike for me is going to depend on results of my battery tests.. especially being spoilt with the e71

Lol I also had the n95 for a year and the e71 for a year. the E71 camera really did fail.

I think your opinion on the N900 really depends on what you use it for. I realized that this past year I was browsing heavily over Edge and the e71 browsers (built in, skyfire, opera) weren't cutting it for me. I am pretty happy with the "full" browsing experience I get from the N900.

Of course the tradeoff was that the battery on the N900 is not as good as the e71 though I did not have much luck on my N95 in terms of battery life, I found it quite poor.

As for the N900 camera, it is not as good as the N95 at the moment but I have no doubt that it will improve with firmware updates. As I keep reminding people they did say this is a work in progress, it will get better with time.

I find the speakers on the N900 comparable to the N95.

If you really need something more polished there are many other phones on the market, bottom line the consumer wins!

ha me too! I'm loving the geek factor of the n900, but man an E72 would be tasty right about now, huh!

don't know about n95 but n73's speakers are louder than n900.

Just sold my N95. I loved that device. But now can not live without Qwerty Keyboard, and that big 32GB plus another 16GB.

Camera on N95 was not bad, but not as good as N900 in my opinion. Especially during the day when I take most of my pics. The N95 was also very slow to take pictures, and had a color hue on its pics, whereas N900 can have very good color saturation. macro shots on the N900 are exceptional for a camera phone.

Not sure what all this speakers bit is all about. N900 are plenty loud enough, and lets face it, any debate about sound quality on either is a bit of an oxy*****.

Browser and messaging are top notch on N900, as is the open nature (ssh and sshfs for example)

A few things I would like that the N95 had
-Joiku Spot
-Java
-BBC iPlayer
-Full Blown Mail for Exchange Support

But all in good time eh.

Yes as soon as someone releases a program offering wifi tethering such as Joikuspot I will rush to purchase it hehe. While Joikuspot totally eats your battery it has come in handy many a time when a friend needs quick internet access on their device (ipod, iphone, laptop etc)

I agree with you, the speakers are comparable to the N95, all these devices with their small speakers don't give great audio imo anyway. As for volume level the n900 is definitely loud enough for me to hear.

The N900 camera as with the N95 I find their Achilles Heel is low light indoor pictures, they both have a hard time with that. Outdoor pictures the N900 really excels at, and yeah I was actually pleasantly surprised to see the N900 lock on faster than the N95.....

I used a N95 8gb for two year and a N900 for two week, I must say that the N95 is way better for me than the N900 for the moment (I hope it will change with the updates).

For the OS part :
- No portrait mode for the N900 for the moment : you need two hands to use your phone, not very convenient in the metro, bus, street...
- I don't like so much to launch a phone appli to make a phone call
- With my N95 I could sync mulitple calendars and contact via html syncML with google and goosync. No html syncML for the N900 for the moment.. This is VERY annoying for me!
- Control the music with the handsfree kit. No control with the N900 : in order to stop the music, you have to take it from your pocket, unlock it, find the player in the open apps and stop the song...
- impossible to phone directly from a SMS view, you have to go back to contacts, and, if the number is unknown, well... note it on a paper, 'cause there's no copy/paste here!
- no #.......# codes
- I miss a bit the MMS but not so much
- cannot easily change the volume while browsing
- battery doesn't last long...
- each time you connect to the internet, the N900 keep connected : on have to manually unconnect it. I guess it uses a lot of battery.
- no icon for new voice message : I had 13 new message when I had the idea of calling my voice mailbox
- ok, browsing on the web is 1000x better on the N900 than on the N95, but web browsing on a phone is just for occasional use for me. I don't want to spend hour on the web on a phone. But still, it's a very nice browsing experience and it can be very usefull in many cases.
- ok the larger screen of the N900 is wonderfull for watching movies in the train. The screen of the N95 is way too small. But you can hardly watch a whole movie with the N900 battery...
- the photo part seems similar on both phones, maybe a bit better (faster!) on the N900.
- no radio for the moment on N900. I use it quite often on the N95.

I also miss some apps, and hope they'll come to the N900 :
- Sygic drive for the GPS (I know it will come soon! I'm waiting for it)
- Google maps...
- a better Nokia Maps for offline maps
- Joikuspot
- no gmail app (I don't want the push mail), I have to go to gmail mobile website, not so nice.

The N900 is a very promising phone, I like it a lot, and I have no doubts it will become soon better than the N95 and than any phone, but for the moment it is still very new. If syncML via html doesn't come soon, or another solution (with MfE?), I will consider selling my N900, cause I really need a solution for mulitple calendar sync with google calendar...
