There was a WiMax/4G version I could have used the whole time, when I just bought a N900?...crap.

Not that the N900 isn't nice, but I'm very surprised they would remove this functionality from newer devices, especially when 4G/Wimax is the future of mobile inet.

I have been talking with Clear tech support here in Texas and they say the n810 wimax will not work. I have the last OS2008 Diablo stock with no modifications. What version of the OS are you running to connect with Clear w/ no problems?

thanks in advance,

Eric

I wouldn't count on the support people knowing about anything out of the norm. I actually had AT&T tell me I couldn't access the Internet with Linux, I had to have Windows.

Lol yeah they don't know anything and I wouldn't listen to that. If WiMax is a standard, you should always be able to connect to it if you have a WiMax software stack.

Sorry it took so long, just saw your post. My version is 5.2008.43-7.

Are you in an area that, you know for certain, has Clearwire signal? If not try to get close to one of their towers (1/2 mi or less) and see if your N810 list Clearwire in Connections (just like your wifi listings). If Clearwire does not offer day passes you may have to set up an account with them before you are able to log on. If nothing works...reflash your unit.

I recently re-downloaded the image from the wiki page and re-flashed the N810 WiMAX with that image using the Software Updater Tool on my desktop PC and also discovered Clear's 4G settings pre-installed. After spending many hours trying to find out why I could not connect to the Clear 4G network and upon speaking to a Clear Technician - discovered my home address is between two towers in a known blind-spot (despite have a weak signal). Once out and about around Chicago I have been able to connect to the network most of the time (still to many blind-spots here in Chicago).
