I ordered a Nokia N900 and it's currently on it's way. One of the main reasons I left my previous phone was it's terrible SMS capabilities, 100 max... including sent ones.

So my question is how many SMS texts can the Nokia N900 hold? Also does it have a conversation style chat similar to the iPhone and newer smartphones? My previous phone did not have that.

Thanks!

Most phones have limits to texts because of limited internal storage. The N900 has "a little" more internal storage than most phones.

Had mine since 12/4 and have not deleted any texts. Plenty of memory left and the conversation style sms makes it look really organized.

Nice. I can't stand only hold 100 ONLY. Sidekick LX 2009.

One mroe quick question guys, is there something that tells you how many you have left?

And also a Motorola phone my friend had, didn't really have a limit. It was however memory he had that is. So he had well over 10,000 texts and deleted only because it caused the phone to be sluggish. The Sidekick has about 500megs of internal memory if I remember correctly and an expandable slot which I inserted a 2gig card in. 100 never made any sense to me.

The number of messages (afaik) isn't limited in any way.. the messaging app is actually done pretty nicely - it only displays last few conversations, and if you scroll upwards, it loads older and older messages continuously..

Because of that, and because the messages are stored in a SQLite database (which shouldn't have performance problems even with millions of messages - if you are only interested in last few ones), you most probably don't have to worry about this...

My first Nokia in 95-96 or something had more than that, The N900 has unlimited space in comparison.

I think the topic starter is a bit lazy, if you check maemo.nokia.com you will clearly see a very demonstrating screenshot of the conversation tab and if the internal storage is 32gb you could think that there is plenty of room for your sms.
