hey all
I just changed my SD-microCard from 4GB to 16GB.
Either one of them is now recognised any more.
Any suggestions about the reason?

I had CAM-Pics on my 4GB Card and can see/read/copy them at the PC but the phone does not see any SD any more.
I first changed with power off mode the I tried with power on but ther's no difference.

Any help?

Have you put the back cover back on? The card gets unmounted from the system when the back cover is off.

That's strange. Can't see it with lspci -vv or sfdisk -l?

whow the hell had this kind of idea - even undocmented...

Thanks for the tip with the backcover - with the cover it worked....

oh my god - thats a kind of fun

Does anybody know HOW the system recognises the removal of the backcover?
The reflection-sensor next to the camera lense is definitely not responsible to detect the removal of the cover...

It has to unmount the card before you remove it, otherwise it could really mess up open apps (and the card itself). As for how it recognises it - I'd have thought the proximity sensor under the camera lens.

theres a magnetic switch next to the camera that can see a metal insert on the cover. search this forum for 'magnet' or 'cover' and im sure you'll find it

so can anyone confirm that its just as safe to remove the cover and let the device automatically unmount the mmc as opposed to powering down to switch it?

not that im going to be switching it much, the latching device is so fragile and makes me yearn for my e71's simple eject slot.

maybe, just maybe, we will someday see the 32gb mirosdhcs that have been in testing since late 2008

It should be, but for safety it would be best to power down.

The n800 does something very similar with both of it's SD cards - I've never had a problem switching those on the fly - it usually gave a warning if the card was still actively in use.

I would think that the small keys would make for the worst spelling ever... should not really effect how people use language.
