its always the same problem! with nokia devices. always they make the root memory too low! why isn't nokia learning from their mistakes. how many times didn't we read about people having problems with the n97 saying not enough memory when trying to install and open programs.

they could easily make it 16 GB by now! the internal memory of the n96 was 75 mb after a few months it allready was full and when trying to install ovi maps 3.0 i got the message like 7 times in one installation.

This is stupid it really is! some one should make a fix to readress memory to other partitions!

Second of all this was not the release some people were testing! this is 44.1. the version a few in the community are testing is 51.1 so this is a minor fix. i really hope the next one will come soon and be a biggy

It made destroying a working N900 as easy as clicking a few buttons.

Don't worry, the only ones who are sad to see that go are the ones who shouldn't have been using it. You're not missing out on anything.

Classic example of arbitrary Nokia decision making. Couldn't just fallback to the no brainer of tagging with lat/lon if network isn't accessible, could you Nokia?

Hint: Red pill mode will allow you to browse the OVI store and install stuff directly.

red pill gone means we' ve got to dpkg deb files? I would like to have a gui method. Hate console-ing on this keyboard.

Red pill mode has been disabled in this release.
one good change i have noticed which seems to have gone unmentioned is when you install an application in manager. It stays at the application place where you where instead of going back to the alphabetical start that always drove me mad. Little things make me happier.

Not getting it. I have yet to see how a special mode offers more "direct" installation than using apt-get on the command line, or what Red Pill mode had to do with the Ovi Store.

Considering that at the time the N900 was designed the largest chip that existed was 256MBytes, I hardly think this is surprising. At least there is an internal solution (reserving 2GB of the internal 32GB), unlike on the Android devices.

And how I can remove some libraries which were installed as dependency after application removal? (for exam: gonvert pulls libilluminate0 and after removal of it libilluminate0 still leaves on device). Yes, I know about apt-get autoremove but this is weapon of mass destruction. Blue pill Application Manager doesn't show any library at all.

The second question to people who did install PR1.0.1 about red pill absense - with PR1.0 (42-11) Application Manager shows only 'user' section of repository.maemo.org catalogs and doesm't show 'admin' etc without red pill. How do I get access to this in Application manager? Or we all need to go back to command tools?

Both of the issues are easily and effectively solved by the use of apt-get.

I suppose this calls for an auto-cleanup or a "Cleanup" button in the Application Manager. I like having the console as much as any other *nix geek here, but reclaiming space used by unused packages shouldn't require it (especially with apt.)
