changed again..

1. as root put attached image (xterminal.png) in
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps
(you should see terminal.png in there)

2. edit:
usr/share/applications/hildon/osso-xterm.desktop
change icon to "xterminal"

3. in xterm, type
sudo gainroot [enter]
gtk-update-icon-cache -f /usr/share/icons/hicolor [enter]

4. reboot


im pretty sure step 3 isnt needed but this worked for me


u can use either of these, the one on the right is the Ubuntu xterm icon

well this way ppl can change it AND vote on the bug.

f2thak why (in step 2) do we have to edit the xterm.desktop file? cant we just replace icon with same name and reboot for it to show?

you can, this just keeps the new one also.. either way would work

Cool i will just replace it with my own, i will make one when i get home and export it from svg to png, 48x48 is it?

yes 48x48 png can have transparent bg to get icon such as settings spanner icon

Yes all my icons i make are lhe same touch style icons from the n900 so they will all match nicely, i think there called the Ovi icon set that was also used in n97 etc, so if you want any icons just ask.
