In my eyes the "pulseaudio" task is suspicious. It's responsible for all kinds of audio. If you had audio active while you took the screenshot, then there's nothing to worry about.

OTOH if you did not have any audio active, then you might experience a problem that I have from time to time: Pulseaudio consumes 3-8% CPU without playing any audio. This is always preceeded with audio usage of some kind (like opening the media player and closing it) but not with a 100% reproducible pattern.

The workaround for this problem is to reset pulseaudio, by issueing "killall pulseaudio" (from a root shell). The pulseaudio system will then automatically be started again (you will not loose the ability to play audio), but the new incarnation of it notes that there is no audio to play and goes back to 0.1% CPU.

Note that I didn't update my N900 yet, so maybe this advice is not helpful to your problem.

The pulseaudio is from the systemsound of the camera, I think.
I just checked that by taking another screenshot, before the shot, pulseaudio wasn't in the list, but as soon as I took the screenshot it was there.

I have to say that I also notice a shortened standby time.
I am having the impression, that it only occures when presence is set to online. I am currently using Skype and ICQ. I will switch one of them off and see if it changes anything, in the next days.

At the moment battery life for me is shortened when I use presence. I will be glad to carry out tests, in case somebody responsible for it tells me what to test / log.

Best regards,
Corwin

No, I would remember it. Now FF is uninstalled, but hildon-home is still going at it, even after a reboot.

I'm guessing it's a pretty important system process, so I won't try to reset it with a killall, like pulseaudio.

Guys, another possibility is that the charger is not fully charging the battery! (even though it says its fully charged).I`ve charged the phone up, the device was fully charged. Then I`ve surfed for 4-5 minutes through wifi, and the battery was discharged just a little bit....then I plugged the phone again and it started charging for at least 30-45 minutes more, even though the battery was fully charged? This is strange!

I agree on this one. battery lasts longer after updating! Before the update i could not last threw the day now it does easily. But, signing in im accounts drains the battery very fast which is a pity. I would love to stay signed on threw out the day.

Just to clarify, the original problem reported is not poor battery life 'in general' but a huge and sudden battery drain that made the device warm and drop 16% in one hour when idle.

It hasn't happened in the last 2 days, but some race condition will cause it to happen again at some point... probably at some urgent time I need the phone

that's not what i have...

here's my device setup:

1. screen set to 3/5 brightness
2. wifi off
3. set to 2g or 3g but mostly i see 3g signal is good
4. i have 1 skype account configured but most of the time it's set to off
5. i have a 1900mAh battery installed instead of the stock 1320mAh battery
6. i have only one widgets on the desktop and it's the desktop command execution widget i use it to check my battery percentage, other than that it's only contact shortcuts and shortcuts to programs. i have that widget configured on a secondary desktop and it's set to only update on click or on viewing that desktop.

i took it off charger this morning at 9:30 and it was showing 95% battery. with no wifi active and IM accounts offline, i had 1 phone call which lasted about 2 mins and now at 10:06 it's showing 85%...

somehow i think something is REALLY broken...

link to buy 1900mAh battery? I thought Mugen were the only reputable brand?
Did it give awesome battery life before PR1.1?
