DosBox binaries are installed to /opt/DosBox

But you shouldn't care about that. The only part you need to care about is the /home/user/.dosbox/dosbox.conf file.

This is the file where you set your preferences and append any auto mount commands. Such as:

mount c /media/mmc1/games
c:

This will mount a games directory on your SDHC card to the virtual DOS C drive and then change you to that directory when DosBox starts, allowing you to execute any DOS compatible programs in that directory.

#mount c /home/user/MyDocs/dos

If i put the cd files in /dos now, dosbox will load them?

Well I hope you didn't put the "#" character in front of your mount statement. In UNIX/Linux land, the "#" character is code for "Please ignore anything in this line".

Now about your CD files, they will execute ONLY if they are something that is made to be executed from inside DOS.

Many old videogames run fine in DOS, but when you mentioned CD files I get nervous.

By the time the CD-ROM revolution hit PC gaming, Windows was in full effect, so many of these games required Windows to run.

What is the CD content that you are hoping to execute in DosBox?

Sometimes you can cheat the system. Some games on CD-ROM have a windows installer, but once installed, the game itself only requires DOS to run. In this case you can run the installer on your Windows PC and allow it to unpack the installation files. Then just move the installed files to your N900's DosBox games directory and you can run the game just fine.

Remember, you must also enter the following at the end of your config file:

c:

OR, type "C:" and then the enter key when you start DosBox when the program starts to actually enter this directory that you mounted.

If the setup.exe can run in DOS/DosBox, then by all means just go for it. If it has problems or if the installer is expecting a full Windows file system, then install it on your PC and then copy the files over.

Left click should just be tapping the touch screen as the touchscreen is usually interpreted as the pointing device (mouse).

Did you mean right click?

I've never been able to right click in DosBox. Perhaps you can find a setting in the config file that lets you assign a key to right click.

In a pinch, install and run x11vnc server on the N900 and connect to it using a vncviewer on a PC. Then the PC's mouse and keyboard can act as N900 input devices and you should be able to left click and right click.

No i did mean left click. The resolution is all messed up so it won't let me click. It's very laggy too. Anything i can do to sort out the resolution and speed it up?

The resolution is a variable of the dosbox.conf file. It's one of the very first line items, I think. Try tinkering with different values and see if you can get the displayed image cleared up enough that your pointing device works correctly.

Remember not to scale to the full 800 pixel wide length of the N900's screen since it's a wide screen display and most dos games were designed for a 4:3 square display. If you tell DosBox to display too wide it will either cut off part of the image, or distort your image. Both can throw off the calibration of your pointing device in game.

Also remember that performance will be slow. While not as slow as straight up emulation (DosBox is NOT an emulator per say) DosBox has not been optimized for the N900's GPU, so the performance still leaves something to be desired when running software that's newer then 1993....

Ok, thanks for your help

Is there any chance for faster speeds in the future?
