Hello,
today I wanted to use ovi maps on my N900 the first time and closed the application after some minutes, because it's useless in its current form.
Reasons:
- Needs a permanent internet connection, but when I am on the way in foreign countries, I cannot be always online becasue of roaming costs. When I closed the internet connection it prompted periodically for a new connection, although I used offline maps.
- Bad User Interface
- No Voice support
- Unable to save routes or destinations
- Complicated to use offline maps
- it suggested a small street, although a highway was available
Does anyone know, if there is a good navigation application planned for the N900, or if Nokia plans to enhance Ovi maps, so it becomes more useful?
Thanks,
#9370

However, the offline loading was easy enough. I did it manually (no Nokia Map Loader).

...and even has lock-to-view options and all sorts of cool things now.
