Anyway, in normla or fullscreen mode, ctrl+backspace doesn't work, it's treated as key input and sent to the remote side.
Even after installing camkeyd, the focus key was sent to the remote side and I could hear my PC made some invalid key beep.

1.6 is required if the remote side is not using default rdp port, and it only has command line interface.
I haven't found any other way to exit from the full screen apart from the "end current task"

It's just something inherited from the N800 where there is a button for the fullscreen on/off and it is possible by using that.

You need to recalibrate your screen manually.

N900 uses some kind of clever auto-calibration that observes trends of offset touches. If you use finger a lot, the actual touch point will be lower than link or what ever you aim. System can correct it automatically if this is the nearest clickable object. And if this happens most of the time it concludes that screen has to be calibrated by this offset. In remote desktop you have to use stylus and this is more accurate device.

I trained myself to touch bit higher than used to and screen calibration stays in place.

I couldn't find any answers on this thread to the following query:

Is it possible to save the settings for rdesktop 1.7 into a named file so they can be loaded at runtime?

I have 3 PCs that I need to access regularly and its becoming a pain to have to enter the settings by hand whenever I need to change machines. Typically, in a remote support session, I'll need to bounce between 2 out of the 3 PCs several times.

Would be an awesome feature; I've been curious about this.

Now I have tried all I can find getting rdesktop 1.7 working with my Win 7 RC... (Ultimate Ed)

I use a wlan router and have done the following steps:
1. set a static ip to your pc in your LAN

2. Disable firewall on pc or allow remote desktop port 3389
- Have also tested if the port is open, and it is.

3. Set password to your aco**** on your pc and make it member of Administrator - Tried with my original administrator account and also created a new one.

4. Enabled remote desktop on my computer - And tried different allowed users like "everyone" but also the administrator accounts.

5. Installed rdesktop 1.7 on my n900 and put in my computers IP (that I find in my router settings browser under the right connection) Username and password. Domain left blank.

6. When I then press ok, the n900 shows "Rdesktop cannot work properly as there is some problem with the connection network"

I have tried with both my Wlan and with 3G, same result.

When I ping as root with Wlan, I get the right response, with 3g i just get the first sentence with some byte data.

I am new with these kind of things but I would like to learn!
p.s. sorry if my english is a little off...

has your username got password setup? Remote desktop does not allow you to logon without password but "Rdesktop cannot work properly as there is some problem with the connection network" means either connectiong to worng ip or port is not open

Are there any specific advantages on vnc that would make it better than rdesktop? I know vnc has right click and rdesktop doesn't, mut I've survived without it, since otherwise rdesktop works really well for me.

I'm mainly interested if vnc could work as a remote, as atleast when using rdesktop it mutes the sounds. would be awesome if from the couch I could put musics on for example, or put a movie on. Actually even now I can do those things, but I don't get sounds..

No, standard VNC doesn't include sound, printers, or file transfer. The main advantage of VNC over rdesktop is its cross-platform compatibility.

remote desktop has right click, fn+2*ctrl
with vnc when you logon to remote pc, screen is visible. With Rd you logon like locally and screen does not show what you do a lot more private
