Hi,
I tried tons of different settings to convert a video file e.g. Lost, to the same quality as the Nokia_N800.avi, which is preinstalled on every Nokia N800.
So far, the best I can squeeze out is:

Resolution: 320x240
Bit rate: 750kbit
Codec: Divx / Xvid

Audio: Mp3
Bit rate: 128kbit
Channels: Stereo
Sample rate: 44100

However, the Nokia_N800.avi video has a much higher resolution and plays fluently. Does anybody know what codec it uses and how which settings need to be configured to achive the same quality?
Thanks!

Use his Media Converter

Medium Quality settings work very well!

Depends what you mean by "ideal".

As has been said, it's easiest to use a converter such as Kontorri's or my own 770-encode (needs to be renamed, possibly to tablet-encode)

Both of these now have presets of settings guaranteed to work on the Maemo tablets.
