I seem to like the speedy response of the in-built microb than firefox. I am not sure whether it was the developer repo or firefox but it made my device very slow and had to reflash it. It is working well with much better battery life now.

Anyone else experience this?

If you installed from extra-devel then you installed a beta of Firefox (Fennec was the code name), not the final Firefox Mobile release. Go to:

firefox.com/m

to download the official release. That will also install the Mozilla Catalog in the App Manager.

I've found Firefox to be about as fast as MicroB even with flash enabled. But if you enable flash, be sure to install Adblock Plus also. Doubling the cache fro 1024 to 2048 seemed to help a little. I haven't noticed any battery problems.

If you use browser switchboard and pick Firefox as the default browser you will get a much more justified comparison. MicroB and Firefox start in about the same time. That's because MicroB as standard is pretty much fully loaded in memory.

Type about:config in url bar and change "browser.cache.memory.capacity" to whatever value you like. I'm using 8192 (default is 1024). For more information on firefox's about:config entries, see here - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_...config_Entries

dsawhney:

I am using Fennec on my n810. I just increased cache to 2048 as a test. Will having a larger cache allowance help with performance and running out of memory issues?

@dsawhney: have you tried to change the default download options?
