i installed the official version of firefox, and found that its better than the beta, but still slower than micro-b. It does have its good points with the sync with weave. with flash enabled it's actually not bad , especially when you increase the browser cache. I'll be using it for sure.

Confirmed.

Not sure why it was disabled by default.

8192 cache on my n810 seems to be the sweet spot, I was able to get flash by setting plugin.disable entries to false, and it seems to me that the browser is pretty damn snappy (after 20 to 30 second startup) after adapting the (.network) changes from this link.

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=17666

I have been using firefox exclusively since the 1.0 release, and today I tried microb and midori, and went right back to firefox. Midori loads and starts displaying pages faster, but microb seems right around the same speed, with a much rougher ui.

More functionality, better interface, reasonably fast, very slick.

Firefox ftw

I have been trying to get sun embedded java to work with microb browser, get black box where applet should be.

Now trying to get it working with firefox.

I have set

plugin.disable = false
plugin.default_plugin_disable = false

changed java.java_plugin_library_name to libnpjp2, and symlinked from jre to ~/.mozilla/plugins

a page with an applet does not complain about missing java but does not show black box or load the applet.

Any suggestions?

I assume Firefox is optified... This means firefox is already disadvantaged over microb which is not optified and operates on the faster flash memory.

Perhaps Firefox needs to be unoptified?

When I press enter a dialogue box appears but I can't type any characters into the box. How do I change the value?

Press backspace 4 times to get rid of 1024, then type the new value and press enter

Be sure to press the function key twice to lock in the ability to type numbers. The dialog box might only accept numbers, as the setting is an integer. You may also have to tap in the dialog box. Mine shows a cursor when I hit enter, however.
