Prove to me I'm wrong. I was really hoping for the best.

While his feedback might be perceived as 'trolling', I think Nokia would be wise to at least consider it. Instead of posting on these forums, it should have been submitted to some sort of 'customer feedback' department within Nokia (I haven't been able to locate one..)

I can

I imported my contacts using a vcard file, unless .vcard refers to some other format

How is this being a troll? Every single time someone talks negatively about the n900 everyone labels them a "troll."

Maluka, wtf on that picture man!? That's offensive.

I don't see a troll. I see somebody with a vested interest asking other folks what they see as the positives where they might not currently see it.

The whole "jump on anybody/everything that doesn't wholly praise the N900" **** is getting old quick.

* Mail app does not recognize .ics files as calendar invites,

I've used gmail which does recognize it and adds it to my google calendar - I've setup the exchange sync to sync my google calendar to the device

* There is no OpenVPN or VPNC client that works out of the box. I had to hack it to get it to work.
I've used ssh a bunch of times with no problems

* Battery life is terrible, lasts at most 2-3 hrs.
Agreed that battery life on multitasking smart phones with fast CPUs is an issue. Palm (same CPU) has the same issues as does most of the android phones.

* Mail for Exchange does not work as advertised. Can’t get it to work at all. Very vague errors messages.
I think they have been working on that one

* There is no ability to search email.
gmail

* No ability to search across all apps; even PalmOS has this back in 1994.
Not sure what you mean - find | grep "txt" works well from the command prompt - there is no locate command

* You cannot delete an email without opening it.
click - hold - delete
* The standard Jabber client will not connect, but the hacked-up Pidgin client will.
jabber works fine for me - also with facebook
* Too many competing mechanisms/apps/conduits to sync email/contacts/calendar.
* Cannot import .ics files or .vcard files, so you are stuck using some other conduit or 3rd party, if you can find something that works.
* Does not support any “standard” sync protocols except Exchange, which doesn’t work.
the windows software from nokia pc suite works ok. I'm not using it.

Hey you didn't mention:
ovi maps
odd window management
sometimes you click and things won't close
