Surely you mean the most anti-competitive market?
Incompatible networks, locked handsets the norm, long term lock-in contracts, flat-rate pricing (discourages having multiple accounts), restricted software, almost universal handset subsidies. Last I heard it was not possible to buy an iPhone outright from Apple in the US.

I am not even from the US, and have been pretty faithful NOKIA customer as I think their devices have served me well, but not of lately. When it comes to more complicated softwares and higher end phones, their bugginess has let many fans down. Unlike you, however, I am more realistic about what their problems are and I hope they correct them as they will become the Renaults of the smartphone, nowhere to sell but at home.
