Hey,
I am using N900 for 2 months and strictly speaking I am not happy with this brick although i am an experienced linux user.

Because I think there is no other device in the world out of N900&Fremantle in which people look forward for new firmwares. Is that difficult and long task to make basic missing features. What are maemo team doing? Does Nokia really care about this platform?

What is done perfectly is only the ads of this device before shipping? We look forward same perfection with the software.

Just curious: what do you anticipate resulting from a vague rant as opposed to constructive critical feedback?

There are numerous such threads here already, populated by people glad to answer specific questions.

If you don't like it, get rid of it. No one is forcing you to use it...

There is a lot of stuff out there. Some
missing functionality, bugs and community filling the gaps, next OS discussions, tweaks, future plans, and more.

Use the search

If you say someone "I am using one of the latest products of world's cell phone industry leader, but i cant dial ussd code to check my credit balance (without digging AT commands), or i cant make video call although there is a front cam" he will smile of course.

However, I am using the device and like it. You shouldn't blame me. What I want to say is only basic missing features and FIRMWARE LATENCIES. And why Maemo team is too slow to implement&fix this basic features.

I certainly agree with you about blame. It tends to be a very broad, unfocused brush.

And along those lines, I'm simply recommending you change from the original diffused approach to something much more specific and therefore productive. The way has already been paved for you here in many, many threads and posts.

And I'm just trying to explain to you that vague feedback isn't useful.

If you think that the Maemo team is too slow to implement & fix, as you call them, basic features, I assume you'd be able to do that in no time, right? I'm quite confident that your expertise on the subject would be very much appreciated, so do not hesitate to contact the Maemo team and explain them how should they do their work. And while you are at it, please give them thousands of testers that will work 24/7, week in, week out so that stable firmware updates could be pushed every week instead of every couple of weeks (which, btw, no other competitor does) and there will be no `firmware latencies`.

I'd like to thank you upfront for your input and great contribution to Maemo platform in the name of all Maemo users. Thank you!
