good to hear that they did not give you the round around and just did the best thing for you...too bad the store will not last, and yes very nice store.
Did you have the opportunity to ask any questions..such as Navigation Sygic and when will the next update will be release...oh and Germany maybe they will mail you one.

omg... i tried that too.
then the black part went apart from the turquoise part and the spring came out.
only way to fix this was to take it apart, stick the spring in the right place again and then put the black part on the turquoise one.
but it didn't last long.
now i only have the turquoise part over my lense
it's not held in place by anything and so shifts right <-> left easily what causes the camera-app to be launched. xD
i think i'll go to a nokia care point and look which solutions they have for me. ^^
So, until you replace the back cover, I think you might be able to carefully tape a tiny piece of black paper or very thin black plastic in front of this sensor, to prevent the camera app from launching.
Hope it works-I haven't tried it

I went to the Nokia store down in NYC today. I asked nokia person standing on the side if they could help me with the lens cover. We went over to the sales desk on he talked to the lady. Not sure if she's the supervisor. She looked at it and said something about the cover being shiny and the guy replied I have a zagg. The guy knows I have the clear protector brand (actually he said clear view). They sell zagg in the store. Told her I was taking pictures last week and just when closing it the cover felt sticky. She inspected it and she said there's a debri showing me a scartch when she pushed close the cover (I think it the spring or wire that came off track). Then she said I will lose the clear protector on the cover. Thought she's going to fix it. She went upstairs and then in less than a minute she came down and handed me a new back cover.Now I need a clear protector for the back cover.
If I live near NYC, I will go to that store a lot. They have about 4 or 5 N900 on demo. I was checking outthe E72 and Express music. Unfornutately they're closing. The lady confirmed to me the store will be closing but she never said when.

No I wasn't able to asked those. I was looking more of what stuffs they have inside the store. I was just very happy they replaced the back cover. Next time around I'll asked questions. I plan to go down to the store again when the weather gets warm (spring). Hopefully they're still open. Sad they're closing.
If anybody around the tri-state area wants to visit Nokia NYC it's on 57th St. between 5th ave and Madison ave.
While I was in NYC I took pictures on my way home.

Find out if there's a Nokia store in your area (nokia website or call support). or you can get it replace by mail. Hope you get it replaced. Looks like the spring/clip inside comes off its place easily.
