A cellular layer could mean a way to interface with a seperate cell phone, and make use of that cell phone via the N800 to do everything that cell phone can do, but you see it all on the N800 instead.

In other words, you could control the phone and use the phone via your N800....as well as making/answering calls, editing contacts, calendar etc.

I agree with luketoh. There's no reason why you couldn't permanently pocket your phone and use the N800 as a frontend to it: this would add a great deal of value to those who would consider smartphones otherwise.

That said, doing it over BT requires a LOT of manufacturer-specific work in order to get 100% feature functionality.

One would hope Nokia would have a fairly ease job of getting 100% feature functionality from their own phones though...

This is actually the kind of GSM phone I'm hoping someone will develop. Just an earpiece with decent voice dialing and something like the Internet Tablet for those awkward moments when you just have to do something more with your phone.

I've just learned that some genius/clueless idiot (underline appropriate) managed to shoehorn an MP3 player with a contacts list in a BT earpiece, so doable at least it should be.

bang bang you shot me down!

sorry that 's a private joke with Karel, meaning his vision of the connection seems to be totally correct.
it doesn't mean we will for sure see a gsm module inside the earpiece. but i d love it!

you know.....hmmmmmmm......if memory serves me (iron chef! ).....wasn't there some sort of deal between Sprint and Nokia? Sprint (USA)is going to roll out WiMax and Nokia will provide the device? sounds like things are going that type of direction......hmmmmmmm......"ubiquitous" comes to mind from another posting - a seemless 'net experience from your home to where ever you go with VoIP and web browsing......what a dream.....

i'm no insider - just trying to put the puzzle pieces together, and somehow this makes sense to me

Seb & Texrat- how is my target shooting?
