You're definitely hitting one of my favorite targets.

it doesn't mean we will for sure see a gsm module inside the earpiece. but i d love it!
I'm quite certain we'll never see it: It's way too practical.

Heh, I had to change all my address book entries for my wife to "wife cell", "wife work" blah blah, because my v710 doesn't know how to pronounce her name. I'd end up calling my brother instead of her, cause we all know Shaneh (pronounced Shane-uh) sounds sooo much like Jake. Stupid voice dial.

From Sprint announcement (Jan 2007) http://www2.sprint.com/mr/news_dtl.do?id=15000

quote

# The Chicago and Washington D.C. areas have been chosen as initial WiMAX service areas with additional markets to be identified based on market-readiness estimates;
# Nokia, the world's largest cell phone manufacturer and leading network supplier, was named a key infrastructure and consumer electronic device supplier;

end quote

well, i could admit that gsm capabilities are not the easter egg... otherwise projects would not be what they are .... why go cellular if the IT is already cellular?

so what are we left with? maybe you re right.

comment on the earpiece with gsm inborne = ''out of question, way too dangerous''. apparently the dream will not come true. but something will come out.

Yeah, unfortunately WiMax isn't anywhere near ubiquitous and I'm going to be quite annoyed if it's only going to be for select American cities.

O.K. lets take that track...how about this...it may not be what many would call ideal, but it would include the 770, the n800, and what ever may come in the future. I think a small seperate bluetooth (2.0) device that performs the cellular/Wimax/3g connection may be what were putting together here. Nokia could then have a device that is setup for the type of systems in use in different countres, say europe (GSM/UMTS), USA (CDMA/GSM/Wimax), and japan (imode..i think).
Like I said..may not be "ideal" because we're back to carring two devices, but if it was small and pocketable...I wouldn't mind.

I know what you all are thinking - "ya, thats a phone jackass!"
but what i'm thinking of is a small screenless device that only has the radio and authentication (sim card or EID#) nesscary for a paticular system.
