Well, another feature that I'm missing at the moment is tagging. Must have to do with the post count or something.

Have you recently provided talk.maemo.org with an updated email address for yourself? That's normally the source of this problem. You'll need to find the email message the forum automatically sent to your new address and and follow the confirmation instructions within. Once your email address is confirmed, "Thanks" will reactivate for you.
